  1. So The NY Times aids and abets the Trump administration in spreading false and unverified information about a tiny, infinitesimal number of slightly unusually cases.

What could the Trump administration and The NY Times possibly have as gain? I'm being sarcastic of course. We know why the Trump administration wants it - to throw another bone to their base and to placate the religious right and The NY Times to, well, I'm not sure - more clicks?

There's nothing the Trump administration won't lie about to further their power.

  2. The main problem is it's run by a megalomaniac. If he didn't want to destroy NASA SpaceX could have lots of help.
  3. woke = "something that doesn't make money for Trump or his corrupt friends like Musk"
  4. Shame on Bleeping to fail to include Apple's own Passwords in the 2FA recommendation. A huge population of Apple users already have the tools right on their device if folks mentioned it.
  5. It's a prime vector for scam attacks on desperate people looking for jobs. So many posts on Reddit /r/scams of people getting their contact info scraped or scam companies just loitering on LinkedIn.
  6. And only enabled if 2FA is enabled. It won't work without (as won't many Apple services).
  7. Well iOS and macOS are only vulnerable in a very narrow range of conditions. On the other hand Android is a field day.

And I believe these were patched in the current versions of iOS and macOS.

  8. Because that was the last meeting they could have before Colossus required Forbin to be under 24/7 surveillance.

I think it makes perfect sense. How else could he send/get information unless he had a plan to convince Colossus to not observe him.

My big issue with this whole thing is that they actually believed Colossus wouldn't listen in because it said so.

  9. Like his own?
  10. Interesting - you don't seem to have researched your own opinion. A cursory search of Youtube for rebuttal videos shows plenty of people that provide evidence and sources to show how wrong she is in her "out of her lane" videos.

She's no better than any YouTuber looking for clicks and monetization.

  11. If it was true but it's not. The problem with believing rando people rather than reading from the actual source. They can only view your screen and only after you explicitly grant permission via a push notification.
  12. Incorrect. Apple support can VIEW your screen but they can't make any changes. And just to note they can't view your screen with you approving via a push notification.
  13. Wait until you need to pay just to read a linked Tweet.
  14. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. He's an evil megalomaniac. His every action has only one goal - attempting to demonstrate he's the most brilliant person on Earth.

    Psst. He's not succeeding.

  15. As long as you don't mind supporting evil organizations and being subject to continuous prostilitizing. I find it difficult to believe that someone who is depressed needs to hear that they're a sinner heading to hell unless they accept whatever precepts the particular church is pushing.
  16. Claim chowder
  17. How about Arthur Cunningham from to Kill a Mockingbird. /s
  18. Who ever thought racism had gone away? I'm not sure why people think there's been some explosion of racism? That's nonsense. The difference between today and the past is that the right (starting with Newt) made racism mainstream and provided support for people expressing and demonstrating racism.

When your president and your political party champion racism, christian fascism, misogyny, lying and cheating you're going to feel safe doing it as well.

I have no data but I feel that this is actually the majority viewpoint in the US.

  19. No. If you're offgrid and try to call 911 the interface automatically offers to use Satellite services.
  20. This is such a poor idea I can't even describe. Apple discourages using AirTags on pets yet alone a family member. It depends on the serendipity of them going near an Apple device which seems highly unlikely considering the common problem of them wandering away from their home or facility into some unpopulated area.

Plus you have to remove the speaker since it would alert frequently since it's no longer within BT range of it's owner iPhone. That's Apple's anti stalking feature.

If you want to track a loved one get a GPS tracker on them with cellular connectivity. They're cheap, always can report location and are far the better solution.

  21. How would one have figured this out? I assume only because it's documented in a service manual? Would this be within the BIOS if one disassembled the code?
  22. It is. iOS prompts to remove the Find My setting (iCloud Lock) when you use the Erase everything prompt. Requires entering your Apple ID password.
  23. Would this work when the USB accessory lock is enabled?
  24. Wow. Who would take the liability of an app such as this? Regardless of how many disclaimers you'd have to agree to I could easily see a jury holding the creator of the app liable for a horrible death like that.
  25. Yes. They're a disgrace.
  26. He's a strong right wing biased writer (at least in the recent times) and his writing have been criticized by a number of environmental fact checking organizations. So uncritically posting his writings like they're some kind of miracle is disingenuous at the least.

I also think his Twitter name with MD at the end is some kind of attempt to give his name some sort of extra power. He's not an MD - those are his initials but he could easily modify it to be less indicative of a medical degree.

  27. This study is a joke. 20 years after exposure. Self reporting exposure. Done by a country with a huge reason to find positive results so bias is a strong possibility. No mechanism for how exposure could result in genetic modification specific to pulmonary issues.
  28. It's used for good and evil. Like everything else. I support organizations that are transparent and try to hold government agencies up to the light.

Name anything that collects money and you'll find behaviors you don't like.

  29. Blech. It's Bloomberg so it's gonna be a hit piece with suspect facts and data.

I fail to understand the headline. Sneaky? Why is the tech media (well the conservative tech media) fixated on ways to explain Apple's success? It's simple - they make a product people like to buy which works well, satisfies their needs and works together with other products.

The AirPods success is just one of those products. It works very well (and the new AirPods Pro 2 work super well), integrates perfectly with hardware, is marketed well and is supported and serviced in a timely manner by Apple.

No mystery, no sneaky behavior. If you don't like them because you don't like Apple as a company then fine. A Tesla may be a good car but I'd never purchase one because of the despicable behavior of Musk. That's my personal choice.

However if your animosity towards a company leads you to trash products without using them or listening to the users of them then you're a poor journalist or an uninformed consumer.

  30. I think it's more for Chinese communist police raiding her home. Since she runs mains voltage through the USB drive the thing would have to be plugged in.
