- srnayakAmazon L5 is SDE2. I am not sure how you can equate a Microsoft Principal to Amazon L5. Getting to L6 in Amazon is very easy these days due to title inflation. Managers also know how to rig the system to gather the data points for promotion. There was a time when Amazon promotion bar was high and Amazon SDE3 were considered same as Microsoft Principal. But things have changed now. A fresher needs only 2 promotions to get to L6. Some are getting there in 2-3 years. So Amazon L6 does not have the value that it used to have a decade ago. At Microsoft a fresher will need 6 promotions to reach Principal level. People are reaching principal levels early, but not in 2 years.
- In India, the Amazon managers are notorious for all bad practices e.g. forced PIP quota, hire to fire, demanding to work during off hours and on holidays. Now the concern is that these managers will go, join many companies and spread the same bad management practices across the industry.
- Picking up fight with all of your neighbours for inhospitable terrain cannot be a smart move. If China really wants to rise further and challenge USA in near future, it first needs to ensure cordial relationships in its neighbourhood.
- I don't like many policies of the current government including the way opposition is treated. But I think this specific statement should be down voted due to both denigrating tea sellers and presenting wrong facts. Modi is currently PM for 2 terms because he is able to outsmart his opponents both inside his own party and in opposition. It hardly matters if he was selling tea at some point in his life. He is not uneducated. In India one can find many smart guys without formal education and many dumb guys with stellar degrees. Arvind Kejriwal's party i.e. AAP is in power in only 2 small states i.e. Delhi and Punjab. Those 2 states can send total 20 MPs to parliament with a strength of 543. So I am not sure how AAP is going to topple Modi Govt in near future. The only party who can do it is Congress with the support of other parties including AAP. But at the same time, I think the current government is crossing the line in going after opposition parties especially during election times. We need a strong opposition for our democracy. As pointed out by one editorial Modi may be creating his own nemesis by over stepping here like Voldemort created Harry Potter.
- Has the infrastructure in Bhubaneswar improved in recent times? I have seen only bad news like a boy swept away in open drain in 2021 and a tourist falling into open drain in 2023. - Chandrayaan 2 had 3 payloads. The lander crashed along with rover. But the orbiter is still functioning. It has 8 scientific instruments on board for various observations of lunar surface.
- I am from India. This incident has less to do with Hindu nationalism and more to do with reservation and politics. In the state of Manipur, the majority (60%) are Meitei ethnic group. Out of those around 80% Hindu and rest are Muslim. The remaining 40% are from various tribal communities which are mostly Christians. The tribal communities enjoy a lot of benefits starting from government jobs to right to use forest land. So there is a demand from Meitei people to be included as tribal to get the same benefits. The current Christian tribal communities are against this as they will have to share the benefit with a much larger and better educated group. That is the cause of the tension.
- To control law and order, you need to take action on the ground. Indian government has already deployed the army and paramilitary forces to control violence.
