  1. I noticed that "a basic sofa" involves some placing some floating bricks if built in the order of the animation. It hints at the way this model generates the designs. The automated assembly of generated LEGO structures using robots would have serious trouble creating these designs I reckon.
  2. I think in the book those people were convinced to give up air travel by the eco-terrorists known as the Children of Kali shooting commercial airliners out of the sky, and not shooting down cleaner alternatives like airships. A persuasive argument, to be sure.
  3. And to add insult to injury, the decoy mate turns out to be a sucker like you mind-controlled to act like the very thing he was pursuing...
  4. Why does the top-left part of the screen look like a sticker?
  5. The UK's National Health Service advises to eat no more than 70g a day (on average, I assume) to reduce the risks of bowel cancer. So 500g daily seems quite high.
  6. If you like this sort of stuff, I recommend The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity, a 2021 book by anthropologist and activist David Graeber, and archaeologist David Wengrow. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dawn_of_Everything

  9. That some top-tier management practices you experienced there. I expect your productivity*quality sky-rocketed.
  10. Ridiculing is one thing. Waging holy war, murdering, burning and dehumanizing is unfortunately a common reaction to differing viewpoints among religious folk.
  11. The thread starter argues it's not just fun, but a basic psychological need that we have been ignoring since we stopped "tripping", resulting in an increase in psychological issues.
  12. Children need to be socialized, and it's fairly unpleasant for them. This would still be needed regardless of how we distribute money. You're not being "a proper citizen" to receive your paycheck, you're being one because you've been brainwashed from an early age to think that you should be.
  13. In your case, just substitute "feeling gratitude for positive things in your life" with "consciously acknowledge positive things in your life".
  14. > Originally imported from the Netherlands as genever

Juniper berries are called Jeneverbessen in Dutch, hence the name.

  15. The best time to send a probe to an exoplanet is 200 years ago. The second-best time to do it is now.
  16. I think he took the hint and removed the post.
  17. I'm getting the feeling our planet can't really handle a lot more of this "economic growth". At least not the way we've been doing it for the last 200 years.
  18. Not even that delicate, usually quite robust really. The interventions humans throw at it are just too massive.
