"Vienna" by Billy Joel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jL4S4X97sQSlow down, you crazy child You're so ambitious for a juvenile But then if you're so smart Tell me why are you still so afraid? Mm Where's the fire, what's the hurry about? You'd better cool it off before you burn it out You've got so much to do And only so many hours in a day, hey But you know that when the truth is told That you can get what you want or you can just get old You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through, ooh When will you realize Vienna waits for you? Slow down, you're doing fine You can't be everything you wanna be before your time Although it's so romantic on the borderline tonight, tonight Too bad, but it's the life you lead You're so ahead of yourself, that you forgot what you need Though you can see when you're wrong You know you can't always see when you're right You're right You've got your passion, you've got your pride But don't you know that only fools are satisfied? Dream on, but don't imagine they'll all come true, ooh When will you realize Vienna waits for you? Slow down, you crazy child And take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while It's alright, you can afford to lose a day or two, ooh When will you realize Vienna waits for you? And you know that when the truth is told That you can get what you want or you could just get old You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through, ooh Why don't you realize Vienna waits for you? When will you realize Vienna waits for you?- same here, I was looking for a tool that does exactly that a few weeks ago. Ended up just comparing 2 google maps with same zoom level, but it's not practical at all. Open to any suggestion you may have!
- What zigbee switch do you recommend ? I was considering Sonoff zbmini.
- Hi cschiller, I think we can help you with those issues at Waldo. I guess you are using Appium under the hood to get the UI hierarchy. At Waldo we developed a competing (proprietary) engine that solves a lot of Appium problems.
We provide the most accurate view hierarchy for mobile apps (including React Native and Flutter apps), and we do it under 500ms for each view.
I would love to get in touch: at e.de-lansalut [at] tricentis.com
Here is an example of what we are able to do: https://share.waldo.com/7a45b5bd364edbf17c578070ce8bde220240...
- I think we can claim that at Waldo.
Check for yourself: I've just recorded this [1] scripted test on the wikipedia mobile app, and it yields this [2] Replay. In less than a minute we spin up a fresh virtual device, install your app on it, execute the 8 steps of the script.
As a result, you get the Replay of the session : video synchronized with interaction timeline, device & network logs, so you can debug in full context.

- woodworking :)
I just finished (yesterday) a custom shelf for my daughter -> https://imgur.com/a/7zGHOOG
It took me 6w VS the 2w initially planned, but the result is worth it!
With so many hours spent on my screen doing virtual stuff, touching the materials and seeing my progress materialized is very satisfying.
- hahaha this one is TOUGH !
> Maybe instead of coding, you should consider building a personality. Good luck with that!
- I was wondering the same. I'm very happy with Alfred and I use the clipboard history a lot. There is just no way back to having only 1 item kept in memory!
- hahaha me too ! IIRC it was from some kind of "Show HN: What can I learn in 5min" And for the knot, it was maybe https://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/ianknot.htm but not sure.
- Hi Eric, congrats for the launch!
I'm curious, do you recommend any E2E test framework for Flutter? The idea behind hot pushing is releasing more often, for which you become more confident if you have some testing involved.
I'll make a shameless plug for my product (you don't get an opportunity to reach out to the Flutter founder every day!). I waited till the page was out of the front page to avoid looking like I was riding your show hn.
We claim we have the best support for writing and running end-to-end tests for mobile apps, and Waldo stands out in terms of compatibility with hybrid frameworks like RN or Flutter (where Appium support is poor). How can you tap on a button if your test framework doesn't "see" it?
We are releasing a new offer to run local test scripts on cloud devices, which has many benefits: https://dash.readme.com/project/usewaldo/v2.0/docs/getting-s... . By any chance, if you want to know more, I'd be glad to offer additional credits and even honored to do a personal demo (this holds for all HNers!)! My email is in my profile.
- This is mindblowing. I found this YT video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovo_T0KqdYg showing the whole life cycle of the jewel wasp.
What impresses me the most is that the wasps are not trained to do that. They appear to "just know" what to do. Wow.
- I don't understand how piped can be at the same time
- legal
- not use YT APIs
- ad-free
can someone help me understand how this works?
- I have troubles understanding what's the value added by Yattee if it's only a "front end", while piped already claims it's a front end for YT. Can you help me get a clearer understanding ? I'm interested in ditching YT in favor of a privacy friendly / ad-free alternative.
- Same here. I was astonished when I realized the device could very consistently "spot" when I have been drinking alcohol. It made me realize the effect of alcohol on the body are very measurable, and lasts multiple hours after your last drink.
- It's funny, because I see it the other way around: I drink less often than I used to, and now I need less alcohol to feel the effects, and I find it cool that way :).
- > hundreds of FAANG interviews
hundreds??
So that's at least 200. Assuming you interview for the 5 FAANG in parallel, and you have, let's say 5 rounds per application (and you do reach the 5th). You would have done the whole process 8 times. Assuming they let you apply only once per year, that means you have interviewed at the very least every year for the last 8y. okay.
- Congrats on the launch!
The whole world you created around your product really makes it stand out. Quite refreshing compared to a lot of "aseptized" product launch we see these days. As a big fan of the advent of code, I could certainly see where the inspiration :).
