- I know, is there any point in calling it Homebrew anymore when it's like an extension of the App Store?
- I used to eat lunch at Bastion 14, although you can't get anywhere near it now. There was plenty of old wall at Moorgate that was very open access.
- Took me to my local grafana instance, which was a surprise :D
- An excellent piece of work, although needed and continues to need more horsepower than I have readily available. UI not super-useful but I am going to dig in and see if the API can be utilized to get what I would like - better exposure of underlying file structure to quickly navigate by date.
- The only thing tolerant society must not tolerate, is intolerance.
Never debate with Nazis or other bad faith actors.
- OMFG
This post is full of outright nonsense. I was in Central London last Saturday and watched a lot of it go down, before heading to Islington and then catching the last dregs of the crowd nearer Euston and chatting in the pub with some of them.
As a "native Brit" and "native Londoner" that DHH wouldn't recognise as such, he can absolutely do one.
- And Canada, and Australia.
- Recently installed and it’s chewing through 25 years of digital photos, has been some weeks now and expecting it to take another week.
But - seems great. I was prompted to do this after the death of a friend and the subsequent hunt for photos, so I’m hoping the facial recognition lives up to its billing.
I don’t really like having the NAS on 24/7 but I do like the idea of having that local photo sync. Probably cheaper to start with iCloud given the costs of 20TB drives and energy prices, however.
- The UN is operating at a different scale doing something quite unique, and the reports don’t need to be widely-read to be important or influential. I ran kitchens at a series of homeless shelters for ten years and the difference between cooking/serving food, and actually procuring supplies and dealing with the supply chain - was the difference between something that took one hour and something that took nine months. It is much like this with the UN and other international trans-governmental organizations, they work with ridiculously complex systems and get real shit done, even if it’s not as visual as handing out a plate of food.
- Some of it is legitimately journalistic and protecting sources.
- No one cares about the children/elderly/disabled/etc until they want to argue over something
- What is in there that is supposed to reflect the laser? It a Red Book-compliant CD?
Modern CD players are cut-down versions of older machines. My Naim forgoes de-emphasis as only older CDs from the 14-bit era used it. Surely one would expect full backward support for a medium designed for a greater-than-human lifespan?
- Yes, in a similar vein, London has never really been the same since those bloody Huguenots refugees turned up with all their weaving nonsense.
- Indigo is excellent so far, a little bit buggy, but I am seriously impressed. (iPhone 12 Pro)
And I have a Q2, a 5D4 and a 645Z, this little app is really great, and colour me surprised.
- Do you remember how low screen resolutions were as well?? :D
- As cool as Ric Ford is, and I’ve been following his stuff for DECADES, he hasn’t really gotten a handle on this web stuff anymore. He’s been prevaricating for YEARS about the site and how to run it and what to run it on, it’s been slow and unreliable and he seems to be holding on to a vision of how he would like things to be instead of seeing them as they really are.
Blogs a decade behind him have gone through multiple cycles of success and reinvention while Macintouch is a zombie site, just not getting anywhere.
- K10k! “Newstoday” - Miss that jingle!
Made a friend on k10k back in, maybe 2001, still friends. Texted her a few days ago. Never met yet.
I didn’t really want to switch to VSC but the extensions made it easy to find things that you just couldn’t do in IntelliJ, and… I haven’t looked back. Haven’t really missed the suite at all.
