- Nope, not all of them are connected to the internet and not all of them have cameras.
- This is a little tangent, but up until somewhat recently Apple hosted ftp servers with old versions of Mac OS available. So you could get system 7.6 (released 1997) straight from them for a new install on your old machine. I think that is no longer the case, but within the last decade you still could. (I think, idk, time flies)
- Could be some very dry humor? Confused LLM seems most likely though.
- I mean, that’s what they meant too. They’re expensive! Kinda a stereotypical rich thing to have, more so than therapy. One distinction that you might be thinking of without saying between individual sessions and group workouts which are cheaper.
- Not exactly the same. Very nearly the same. I’m not real familiar with the physics of computation but look into theoretical minimum power consumption. Something like 99.999% the same heat output IIUC.
- > And by now the car is unattractive anyway, nobody is going to steal it so I don't need to worry too much about it.
Think you’ve got that backwards. Typically it is older cars that get stolen. 13 years old is new enough it should be harder to steal, but for joyriding or as a vehicle for doing other crimes the thieves are not looking for a new car.
- Also in the US, never been fingerprinted. Well, I think. You mentioned CA DMV, and I don’t remember a fingerprint, but I did have a California drivers license over a decade ago, so maybe? But most people don’t have security clearance, most are not in the military, most do not have global entry. Also the horse permit one is just funny.
- No. Most carriers have free phone promotions regularly. I paid $0. I think the phone before that was also $0. No impact on my bill (since I was already on the unlimited 5g super speed blah blah blah plan, these promotions serve as a way to get people into the all the bells and whistles $80 plans)
- One thing that is different is that carriers regularly subsidize phones. I paid 0 for my current phone, an iPhone 13 mini (when it was relatively new), partner paid nothing for theirs, latest pixel.
Now, lower cost carriers do less of this, and you need to get the high end plan, so it’s not good advice for everyone to get the free phone deal. It is one way a laptop is different. A decent chunk of people aren’t directly paying for their phone.
- Macintosh toolbox was Pascal first right? Or at least there was an era where it was. And I think this naming convention is kinda a pascal thing.
- My home price doubled over the last decade in my rust belt town (the desirable neighborhood in a less than desirable town). Houses similar to mine going 300k+ and average individual income here is still under 40k I believe. City and county services were in much better shape 25 years ago (when they were underfunding their pension programs). My bus service was cut and will be cut again soon and I went almost two months without garbage pickup at one point last year. It’s not all doom and gloom, I do have positive things to say too (parks and library programs are still quite nice), but things ain’t looking up in the rust belt.
- I wouldn’t describe it as a hit piece.
- I think they are referring to text localization. I’m not sure if you actually can turn the subtitle track off on the Japanese language on crunchy roll, the rights holders have long been very concerned with reverse importation.
- The dub subtitles should be different than the original language subtitles, given the dub script is not just the reading the subtitle track, but that’s not an excuse for the dub subtitles being bad.
- My experience is tainted by the fact that the battery electric busses are new and the diesel busses are (comparatively) old, but our battery electric busses are far more comfortable to ride. Diesels are uh, jerky. Maybe the drivers fault, but that’s how it is.
- Is it even better than the LA subway anymore? (I haven’t been down since the improvements everyone says are so good)
Is it better than systems in New York, Boston, Chicago, or uh, even Philadelphia before recent septa cuts? Honest question, I haven’t been all those places, but BART seems… fine to me.
- And in my inexpert experience, they are IP developed by the fab. So if you are doing CPU design work, you may need to understand PLLs well enough to read a datasheet, but you will not need to design a PLL.
I maybe had the most trouble just figuring out which instantiated PLL in the chip belonged to which PLL design, and where someone stuck the documentation in the giant repo. Especially since a hardware designer may think, oh we don’t need to update the docs, “nothing changed,” but the PLLs did change names because of a process change and their parameters may have changed slightly, even if they’re essentially the same. And chasing down small changes and documenting them ends up being a lot of the job in software.
- But which is which?
- It’s pretty awful imo. Going to a late night cafe or diner where you live will be a much better experience, and closer to nighthawks. But try it for yourself I guess.
OTOH, I have had pretty good, though expensive, food at some airports. Certainly not all of them have that option.
songs like those ARE his usual fare these days. Apparently not exactly those tunes, but covers like those are typical
