  1. Are those all Google employees, or does 250 also include long-term on-site contractors? I'm thinking security, maintenance, janitorial, etc
  2. Mining bitcoin with a GPU hasn't been profitable in over a decade.
  3. This used to be handled by selling full-version upgrades and providing patches between versions for free.
  4. Which also makes it easier than ever for more users to run Linux as a desktop OS :)
  5. I might be out of the loop, but if anyone else is confused about the version number:

    > If you were expecting iOS 19 after iOS 18, you might be a little surprised to see Apple jump to iOS 26, but the new number reflects the 2025-2026 release season for the software update.

  6. What's the difference between 1 & 5?

I've personally witnessed every one of these, but those two seem like different ways to say the same thing. I would fully agree if one of them specified a negative impact to productivity, and the other was net neutral but artificially felt like a gain.

  7. See also L402 (previously LSAT), which has been in production use for half a decade at this point, by Lightning Labs (for their products Loop & Pool) via their Aperture proxy.

  8. To be fair, it’s versions of Linux distros they test against in their CI.
  9. Also possible they wanted to reduce the number of small animal carcasses to clean up, whether from the doorstep or interior of the home. Cats love to bring these as gifts to their keepers.
  10. > This isn't about being “less productive” in the office. The data reveals something far more disturbing: I literally become a different developer.
  11. Interesting presentation, but the name is too generic to catch on.

    > the lethal trifecta is about stealing your data. If your LLM system can perform tool calls that cause damage without leaking data, you have a whole other set of problems to worry about.

“LLM exfiltration trifecta” is more precise.

  12. Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE launched four years ago, and it has LTE plus an always-on screen.
  13. > The most powerful set of tools available to create your Windows installation experience. Open Source since 2004!
  14. GenAI _generates_ output
  15. > Raspberry Pi 5 variant: this is crucial, but I can’t find a good battery solution (i.e. a HAT of some kind.)

Check out the PiJuice HAT. It works great as a UPS for all RPi models.

  16. So cool! I didn’t realize there was an earlier version. I still have “The Internet: 01.01.00” (from Jan 1, 2000) with black background hanging on my wall.
  17. AHJ = authority having jurisdiction
  18. It sounds like the truck is very modular so maybe they’ll offer a generator option for gasoline-powered charging. Otherwise you could throw a normal generator in the bed.
  19. Yep, the irrelevant videos are clearly targeted based on viewing history, but a completely separate topic from the search, and often with clickbait titles.

Tangentially related, I typically queue multiple videos, and within the past year YouTube has started inserting new videos into my queue. It’s always one by the same person of the currently playing video, placed next in the queue, and it only gets inserted after watching the current video for some period of time.

That last part made it difficult to diagnose. It’s extremely annoying and feels like gaslighting because it’s never a video I actually have an interest in watching.

Has anyone found a way to disable this?

  20. It’s not common, and it’s awkward they used the acronym four times before defining it many paragraphs later, in the Introduction section.
  21. It’s unclear how this is related to the article, but I’m intrigued by your simple DIY bookbinding process.

It seems straightforward except for the canvas strip (I assume this is part of the binding?), and whether you add thicker pages/boards on each side as covers.

Do you have any photos of the process, or at least of a finished product? Thanks!

  22. My guess is False Positive. Weird abbreviation to use though.
