  1. Wow, tell me you've never shipped anything important / heavily used without telling me that.

I expected this to suggest a tick-tock deprecation cycle, where one version deprecated and the next removed, but this is definitely an idea that belongs on the domain "entropicthoughts.com"

  2. Google Sites exists. Buy a domain, point it at a free Google site. So easy a religion major can make a site that looks pretty decent (ha ha, only serious; I thought he'd used Wordpress at first) for just the cost of domain registration.
  3. It is not; I know we don't read articles here, but...
  4. Where I am, you need an admin to make a public channel; you cannot do it yourself.
  5. This is HN. We don't read posts here.

    More sites like this, please

  7. Not quite the same as storefront surplus, but: https://w1mx.mit.edu/flea-at-mit/
  8. I didn't downvote, but the question was answerable by simply visiting the domains typed into the comment.
  9. I had a Google Play app whose dev died. It was just a simple local app -- no network server usage. When I last upgraded my phone (due to imminent failure of the previous one) it refused to copy the app over -- and the app was no longer in the Play store.
  10. Interesting that the SDK is not affected; my understanding is Slack uses it, which is probably enough to cause its continued existence
  11. Worse yet, our calendars are all 12 hours off!
  12. Or money. Note the Living Computer Museum basically collapsing after Paul Allen's death.
  13. It seemed likely that the parts we don't understand likely served some purpose; assuming they were junk because we don't understand their function is like a user deleting random system files because they "don't use them."
  14. I think the article sort-of says this near the end, mainly in hinting that continuous grinding can be a problem.
  15. Given the description in the article, I'd say Cynic/Idealist instead of Grifter/Believer.
  16. I was in the situation you describe when I got a bidet. It's possible to replace that pipe -- a little more work of course, but it's still turn off water, replace pipe with flexi-hose, connect bidet.
  17. Maybe for 1 day -- perhaps this is a case where homeopathy actually works, and spending half-an-hour in the office once provides the best results of all.
  18. Firefox history is shared among all container tabs. While some of my usage is automatically governed, not all is, hence why I moved to profiles for certain needs for separation
  19. Laws against booby trapping and the like are fairly universal. Even without criminal penalties, the liability if you catch someone innocent should give you pause.
