  1. Anger contributed directly to the start of the free software movement:

  2. I can't decide if the account that created this post is a bot or a teenager in a developing nation:

  3. > Infrastructure should aim to be bland

Can you provide examples of sources of information that MAGA considers neutral? The MAGA in my extended family who live in rural America think that scientists promote evolution solely because they're God-hating atheists who are trying to convince Christian children that God doesn't exist.

  4. > I personally don’t think I care if a blog post is AI generated or not.

0% of your HN comments include URLs for sources that support the positions and arguments you've expressed at HN.[1] Do you generally not care about the sources of ideas? For example, when you study public policy issues, do you not differentiate between research papers published in the most prestigious journals and 500-word news articles written at the 8th-grade level by nonspecialist nobodies?

  5. > When I was a fresh engineer I used a pretty vanilla shell environment. When I got a year or two of experience, I wrote tons of scripts

Does this mean that you learned to code to earn a paycheck? I'm asking because I had written hundreds of scripts and Emacs Lisp functions to optimize my PC before I got my first job.

  6. > Increase in productivity has lead to broad increase in prosperity

All of my grandparents retired in their 50s with fat pensions and then lived into their late 80s without having ever stepped foot on a college campus.

  7. This article includes 894 words and this discussion currently includes 153 comments. Neither one includes the terms "site isolation" or "Fission". WTF.
  8. > You Americans are so fucking stupid its hilarious.

LOL. The person you replied to is from Venezuela:

Auth.js and NextAuth.js didn't seem to be in a healthy state. Work on NextAuth.js v5 began way back in May 2023.[1][2] NextAuth.js v5 was renamed to Auth.js in August 2023.[3] v5.0.0-beta.0 was released in October 2023.[4] Balázs Orbán, the main contributor to Auth.js and NextAuth.js, quit in January 2025.[5][6] v5 is still in beta after all this time. It never had a stable release.

  12. > The problem with this kind of initiative is that people don't agree on what positive news means.

A newsletter is problematic if it doesn't cater equally to people who believe that climate change is a hoax? Seriously?

  13. > This is a forum for tech-related discussions, not a venue for your virtue signaling.

LOL. Says the guy who wrote, "Modern local religion (at least in the US) is neomarxism":

  14. To give credit where credit is due, the long-time HN user and Trump supporter named refurb did reveal himself and expressed happiness about "finally getting some adults in the room," with "adults" being RFK Jr., Bondi, Hegseth, Gabbard, Noem, Vought, McMahon, etc.

  15. I did a Ctrl+F for "Patriots" and "ASCII" in this thread, and I didn't see any results, which was surprising because what killed Digg for me were two issues: the Digg Patriots who brigaded many discussions and all of the stupid ASCII art in the comments, such as "It's a trap!":

  16. I don't know of any usage stats, but Claude has been mentioned in nearly twice as many comments on HN during the past year compared to Cursor:

  17. 1. babymetal didn't attack any person; they criticized a book's production.

    2. babymetal claims to be a bookseller and, if true, they offered a specialist's insight into the quality of the information disseminated by a person being discussed at HN. (Though, their observation was off topic -- like most comments in most HN discussions.)

    3. You want HN users, who are mostly code monkeys, to criticize a proposal to address viral diseases?

This user hasn’t submitted anything.
