  1. What do you mean by "compete"? Surely there are diminishing returns on asking a question and getting an answer, instead of a set of search results. But the number of things that can go wrong in the experimental phase are very numerous. More bumpers equals less innovation, but is there really a big difference between 90% good with 30% problematic versus 85% good and 1% problematic?
  2. ...did you find a new job before leaving YT?
  3. If only Spotify paid musicians their fair share
  4. With # (octothorpe) #Val
  5. How about never deprecate
  6. Six nesting levels for tables? Cool, what were you making?
  7. The book Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud is a tremendous study in this area, Scott shows how you can add abstract meanings to words and pictures through illustration.
  8. You go into a cafe and order a slice of cake. One is delivered. You order three more, three more are delivered. You conclude that the kitchen has infinite cakes based on the observable evidence. That's the argument.
  9. >Evidently energy was created, or it would not exist, would it ?

It is constantly transforming, but that does not signify that it was created, that is beyond the evidence

  10. Noether's theorem tells us when symmetry guarantees conservation, but it says nothing about conservation in the absence of that symmetry - it's not a biconditional statement. Talking about endless expansion is like observing 1 second of a pendulum's swing and concluding there's no time symmetry because it's only moving in one direction. The symmetry exists at the full cycle scale, not the snapshot scale.
  11. Because energy cannot be created nor destroyed
  12. Mainstream physics has been delighted to ignore/abandon essential conservation laws when talking about the expanding universe. It's kinda weird, I tried publishing a paper on it recently and it was not received well. In general, if conservation laws are to hold, expansion must be balanced with [eventual] contraction, is that not obvious? Apparently it was quite contentious to say until... this article?
  13. In high school a friend of mine told me about "microsleep" and how your brain will oscillate into it if you're under-rested. This would align with that theory.
  14. I think we should be careful about materialistic reductions of awareness. Because some rats dreamed detours that ended up being correct in waking rat life, it does not follow that all instances of deja vu are misfirings. It's a tempting connection to draw, but it does not actually explain how the detours were dreamt to begin with, and this points to a deeper question about awareness in general. If I were pressed for an analogy, I might say something like "just because all books have ink does not mean that all ink lives in books." You know what I mean? There's a superset of experiences that cannot be easily explained away by caching, as tempting as it might be.
  15. Some people think it is the eyeball (glasses), some people think it is the brain (NeuraLink). Some people think it is the wristwatch. The pins were an attempt at a pendant. I don't think anyone has tried the necklace, yet. A glove might also be interesting. If the peripheral keeps shrinking, it could be a ring, or set of rings, or an earring. Or a fairy that follows you around like in Ocarina of Time. We could write a theorem about convenience of use and capabilities at different scales for peripherals. It is worth noting that some sizes never really go obsolete, but rather enhance in power and capability.
  16. This is a really cool idea. So the pieces that are on display are able to be bought and used as the icon to the app? I think I get what you mean but I'm not sure. And these are... not NFTs right?
  17. Right now the API is nonexistent, relying entirely on people using the web interface to make listings, upload photos, and set prices. But if you would find this useful I can happily build it out. Our stack is Elixir and building APIs is very straightforward. Our code is open-source, too!

When you say "algorithmically driven print-on-demand" do you mean that prices would automatically adjust based on inventory? Or like, how do you mean.

Also, when you say "see them show up in a request on sale" — can you clarify? I interpret this to mean you want a webhook triggered when an order comes in.

  18. Building a donations powered marketplace, zero platform fee: https://shomp.co

Merchants who want to sell on Etsy or Shopify either have to pay a listing fee or pay per month just to keep an online store on the web. Our goal is to provide a perpetually free marketplace that is powered solely off donations. The only fees merchants pay are the Stripe fees, and it's possible that at some volume of usage we will be able to negotiate those down.

You can sell digital goods as well as physical goods. Right now in the "manual onboarding" phase for our first batch of sellers.

For digital goods, purchasers get a download link for files (hosted on R3).

For physical goods, once a purchase comes through, the seller gets an SMS notification and a shipping label gets created. The buyer gets notified of the tracking number and on status changes.

We use Stripe Connect to manage KYC (know your customer) identities so we don't store any of your sensitive details other than your name and email. Since we are in the process of incorporating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are only serving sellers based in the United States.

The mission of the company is to provide entrepreneurial training to people via our online platform, as well as educational materials to that aim.

  19. Hemingway said to always leave some ink in the quill: “I had learned already never to empty the well of my writing, but always to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well.”
  20. Out of curiosity, how did you "lose" them? Was it a 3 week stint from the getgo?
