- rubzahI live in a place with excellent bicycle infrastructure. All the delivery people ride electric bicycles. A robot would be that, minus the human. So probably better in terms of energy expenditure, cost, etc.
- It's because they are playing with other (dumb) people's money.
- Maybe both? The EU could have a reference implementation, without mandating its use. The current EU model requires each member state to implement everything from scratch, obviously with subtle incompatibility that never gets fixed.
- > since the code may not be maintained and there may not be any support.
Isn't this an argument in favor of open source? Zoho may not be around forever, but open source code is, and you could just pay someone to work on it.
- Dot-bomb 2.0.
- There is simply no excuse for blocking the entry of food into a region wholesale. For that alone they should, at the very least, be an outcast in the international community. But here we are.
- The Turing Police.
- DHH has great instincts when it comes to programming and technical projects, but he is not a very smart guy about anything else. Further, he is a bit of a low class buffoon. So just use his stuff and ignore whatever else he rants about on his own time and property, this is the only way to get by in life. You couldn't read a book, watch a movie, or enjoy any music, if you constantly had to vet the authors against your own political views.
- Yeah, that never happened.
- Been using a flip for four years (Samsung) and will buy another when the time comes (not necessarily Samsung).
Ever wanted a smaller phone? That's a flip phone, it just happens to expand when you need it. Ever drop your phone and damage the screen ? The closed flip phone is super sturdy. Ever wanted to put your phone on the table and use it with one hand, laptop style? Flip. Even in general use, having it slightly bent towards you is a nicer experience that a fully flat phone.
Yes, it has a slight crease in the middle, it has never bothered me even a little. And now, there's an actual microcrack across the crease, doesn't really bother me either, but for some people it might. Look forward to improvements in the next generations.
- Does anyone know what happened to the original people of Poland? I.e. the article explains that almost the entire pre-existing population of Poland was replaced by Slavs around the 5th/6th century, but not through war or conquest. So where did all the people go, and why?
- It's 2D if you only have one eye.
- The damage was visible long before the explosion, during ascent (not sure if anyone has explained how it happened). Though your point still stands.
I was very surprised that that flap still held up during the stress testing on atmospheric re-entry.
- The part that burned was damaged from early on, likely at, or right after, separation. So the integrity of that flap was already very compromised. I actually thought the flap would disintegrate on re-entry with that kind of damage. But no, they even put full stress on it, unfolding it while supersonic through the atmosphere, like a champ.
- Yes, it was not the explosion what done it.
It looked like it happened during separation somehow.
- Even Steve Jobs, who was by most accounts a pretty cold fish (his many other qualities notwithstanding), said something similar. By memory, he said something like: With your kids, it's as if they carry your heart around outside of your body. Which I found super touching and apt.
- High critic score / high audience score = Good
High critic score / low audience score = Paid-for hype, or politically motivated reviews
Low critic score / high audience score = Possibly a good movie
Low critic score / low audience score = Bad
- > I would likely be the parent in the playground just sitting by himself while the daughter plays, maybe reading a book
Just do that and don't feel bad about it. I saw a bunch of parents like that at all my kids different sports and other events and I always respected them for at least showing up. Honestly, it's worse to sit and make forced awkward smalltalk, because you feel you have to, than just relaxing and being yourself.
- It was always mostly people trying to recreate what they had seen in movies a party should be.
