  1. For Android, Ironfox is currently the best option IMO.
  2. Why are so many people paying for premium or even making an account at all?

The amount and variety of free porn is already enormous.

  3. That's an even more evil ad than the obnoxious and irrelevant variety because something related to my interests has a higher chance of successfully manipulating me.
  4. I'm deeply disappointed in Mozilla's management as well, but as long as LibreWolf and IronFox exist, I still see it as the lesser evil.
  5. > If you take care of kids, we the planet, have resources for you.

That sounds nice, but who is going to decide exactly which behaviors to reward and by how much?

To avoid grift and corruption, we should probably have everyone vote on it in some kind of democratic process, right? Well that's basically what we have today with municipal elections, and looks like the consensus is we actually don't want to pay teachers all that much.

  6. I thought the working group making the standard was threatening to blacklist any implementation that allows passkeys to be exported for backup, no?
  7. So.. communism? That hasn't worked out too great in the past.
  8. Sure doesn't feel like it. Life's never been better for more people.
  9. Or we could start treating people like adults and let them make their own decisions/mistakes.
  10. You don't travel? Easy to have all your devices stolen at once on the street.
  11. I don't understand what these costs represents.

The post focuses on SMS verification, which based on the general level of costs makes sense. A KYC-verified Binance account costs a lot more than they list. But if they're only counting the cost for SMS verification, why would it depend on service? Wouldn't only the phone number's country matter?

  12. That's a good reason for not carrying a phone, but getting a cheap SIM-connected device and leaving it at home next to their computer shouldn't reveal any more information than they already are by using their home internet and VOIP.
  13. That's incredible. How has he not patented the process and made a fortune from selling a cure for lactose intolerance?
  14. They should simply stop using social media. Why ban everyone else?
  15. Maybe you should move to a community that shares your values rather than getting the state to impose those values on everyone.
  16. What is that hidden service scanner showing with regards to monero?
  17. Every time I try to use TramsferWise, I end up jumping through KYC hoops for hours - days. Sending crypto is much simpler and faster.
  18. How is the serial number on cash any more anonymous than bitcoin addresses?
  19. The private key used for attestation is stored in the secure element hardware, which runs its own OS, completely inaccessible to the main hardware's OS, even with root.

Some apps don't actually check the attestation signatures, so they could be spoofed for now, but if spoofing became common, apps would just get strict about checking attestation.

  20. Why should the method of payment solve that problem? A reputation system for sellers and service providers makes more sense to be entirely separate.
