  1. How about, if they ban someone, they must give their evidence to the government to prosecute the alleged crime, and if the government refuses (within X time) or loses, then the account is restored.
  2. Any tips on how to do this? (Facebook in my case)
  3. At least use a service with actual customer support like Fastmail, and backup your email with an email client that downloads copies of your email to your computer.

  6. I'm not sure how informed most consumers are these days.
  7. I can't attest to the other parts, but I can attest to the nice cars part.
  8. > This makes my ad profile useless

I have a theory that it doesn't. Which set of companies' logic is more likely?:

Is LadyCailin a "tree-hugging liberal"? LadyCailin clicked on a lot of Sierra Club and PETA ads, so yes. Good, we will add LadyCailin to this list.

Is LadyCailin an "extremist right-wing nazi"? LadyCailin clicked on a lot of prepper and gold ads, so yes. Good, we will *also* add LadyCailin to this other list.

    OR

Is LadyCailin a "tree-hugging liberal"? Well, they clicked on these ads, so we think so, but then they clicked on these other ads, so we're not sure. Then she clicked on these other ads, now we don't have any idea.

Speaking from personal experience: Because some people have used my phone number and email address as their own, I get emails for one political party and text messages for the other political party.

It doesn't make my ad profile useless to the people sending me ads.

Give your phone number to both U.S. political parties. Congratulations you will get spammed by both. I doubt they are cross-checking.

  9. In my experience, great execution (of mundane things in my case) can lead to others noticing you, which you can then use to create connections. Still anecdotal: but ideas did not matter in experience; if anything, my ideas made me look silly to those connections (but as long as I continued making great executions, it didn't matter).
  10. 2^(username characters - 1) possibilities, but I would hate to try and keep track of which combinations I've used, or what binary sequence I'm up to.

I like using company initials & random numbers @ my domain .tld

  11. > Old website is unusable for me.

New website is unusable for me.

  12. Using a separate email address for each site is smart, but creating a separate email account for each site is going to be very tedious, and I imagine Google, Yahoo, etc are going to stop you very quickly after you've opened 20+ accounts with the same phone number.

(Use a catch-all to have different email addresses for different sites, because when one gets hacked, then the damage is limited.)

  13. Don't ever let anyone else connect your TV to the internet either.
  14. Submit a FOIA for a specific area and time, and you can get all of the raw data for that, then you can do your own searches. You generally cannot submit a FOIA for all of the data.
  15. Even if you don't like guns and don't want to own one, you should know how they work and how they are used properly.

Kids used to be taught gun safety in public school. Public schools used to have indoor ranges (I've seen one with my own eyes).

When someone learns gun safety, they are less likely to accidentally shoot themselves or someone else if they come across one.
