Over a decade of experience building digital products. I’m a juror at The FWA and also had experience as an instructor for React's Nanodegree program for Udacity.

Some of my recent client work features Apple, Epic Games, Oscar Health and T‑Mobile.

Technology I use the most these days are React/React Native, Electron, TypeScript, GraphQL, Node.js and AWS. I also have experience with Clojure and am very interested in distributed systems.

  2. I've been using OmniGraffle[1] for that purpose for the past couple of years. Very satisfied with it.

  4. Doesn’t bother me at all I am genuinely happy to see it being used.

    Good luck with the product.

  5. I'm glad to see you're using my code for the book hover states: https://codepen.io/rafaelrinaldi/pen/LEYyKZ

If possible can you just mention it somewhere, or just buy me a coffee instead: https://buymeacoff.ee/rinaldi

  6. Interesting tool... I personally use Kaleidoscope (Mac only) and I really like it: http://www.kaleidoscopeapp.com
  7. Burnout struggle is real.

People could be more empathetic in general, especially in open source where others use their free time to collaborate.

I genuinely hope that Doug Wilson doesn't quit collaborating since he has already done a really good job.

  8. I'm not sure but Clearbit might be a good option: https://clearbit.com
  9. How do you fetch user information to be displayed on the sidebar? I've noticed some are not up to date (like Twitter bio and Gravatar images).
  10. I'm really impressed with how fast this project is evolving. Been keeping up with it for a while and today is the best mail client IMHO.

    Kudos to all involved.

  11. I don’t get the _fear_ of releasing the 1st version of a library at `1.0.0` and then doing major bumps whenever needed. That’s why semver exists in the 1st place.

There seems to be a lot of FUD around this subject.

  12. Well they used to be open about their future plans on their blog[1]. It hasn't been even a month after that letter and we _finally_ have a response from them. It really doesn't seem to be that big of a deal IMO.

  13. Well, they just published a down to earth response didn't they? Some companies don't even respond at all.

As I said, I can understand the frustration but they seem to be working on it. Give them some time or use other tools if you can't wait.

  14. I would love to know what the reasonable approach would be ideal from the people talking bad things about GitHub. If they responded to issues right away people would complain too.

It's not easy to come up with a solid plan for new features and improvements, specially in a company this big (that has a lot going on as we all know). What? You think they're going to get that list of complaints and start smashing some code? That letter is not even 1 month old. I can kinda understand the frustration but keep in mind that there's a lot of other things to handle, it's more complicated than that.

In the meantime if you're really struggling, there are other great options available out there like BitBucket and GitLab.

  15. This looks way better than things like Framer. Not only the code is more flexible (not a DSL nor their own API) but it's actually a React component that you can use anywhere. The IDE looks rad too.
  16. I used to go with Makefiles maybe two years ago but there's really no point on using anything else other than npm scripts if you already have a Node.js set of tools (therefore an npm manifest).

One great thing about npm scripts is that every time you run a command Node.js will export the binaries path to your $PATH so you don't have to manually add absolute paths.

  17. Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate?
  18. The problem with Webpack IMO is that it kinda feels like Grunt sometimes where you find yourself editing a giant nested config. But it is by far the most flexible tool for the job and setting it up without all the fancy stuff is pretty straightforward.
  19. If I was you I would give Rollup a try: http://rollupjs.org

I used to minify with Closure as well (through r.js) and it would take forever.

  20. I agree so much on this. ES2015 is a YAGN not a crucial feature. It's not because you can that you should! The most simple and flexible way I have found for a setup is Webpack without any of the fancy stuff. Really small configuration file, only support CommonJS modules and CSS imports. Everything else has proven to be unnecessary sugar in my experience.

I do use ES2015 in CLI apps though. Just make sure to lock the Node.js engine at version 4 in the manifest file.

  21. And I wish you all the best.
  22. Haha well, that's an interesting use case!
  23. Thanks! Glad you like it.
  24. Didn't really noticed any issues in that matter so far. But if you find one, please, feel free to report on the issue tracker.
  25. Glad you liked! I honestly just wanted something really simple to peak at HN.

Feel free to open an issue, though! Contributions are welcome.

  26. Besides learning purposes, I built it because I spend most of my time in a Terminal window.
  27. Some interesting points made on this thread comparing ClojureScript vs. Elm: https://www.reddit.com/r/elm/comments/3zkkrw/clojurescript_o...
  28. That's exactly what I think as well. It shouldn't be that difficult to get basic crypto to an application.
