- Steve Jobs taking Calligraphy [1] comes to mind
- Whats the context to wanting to stop "bad guys" from using your open source project?
Might want to elaborate while you're on the front page!
- You basically just described what the NYC "G&T" program is. All it is smaller class sizes and less disruptive students.
There are only like 4 actual accelerated learning programs out of the hundreds in NYC's "G&T".
- > the company started as the anti-Oracle.
The company was founded by an Oracle executive...
- Of course!
- Is that the most provocative thing in the article? I thought it was just puffery.
- [flagged]
- > Bobby Kennedy made that speech, was assassinated shortly afterwards, and Nixon won, prolonging the Vietnam War for another 6 years. Bobby Kennedy, also made a historic speech in Indianapolis that quelled rioting after the MLK assassination
You are talking about the same speech. It was a great speech
- I didn't watch more than the first season of the show... but the setting for the novel is an alternate history in the 1960's where FDR had been assassinated in the 30's (failed in our timeline) and the US was isolationist and never entered WW2 until it was conquered by Nazi Germany and Japan.
And he wrote the plot for each character by tossing coins and looking up corresponding passages in the I-Ching
- > (this is one of the premises of The Man in the High Castle, which is likely to age better than most sci fi TV series)
The Hugo award winning book it's based on is much better.
> FDR’s New Deal saved the entire planet from a descent into Nazism and Japanese imperial rule
The 'New Deal' saved the US from internal revolution; Huey Long. Nazism was doomed when Hitler invaded Russia, declaring war on America was just the nail in the coffin.
- > Well, now that the US has a War Department
That was the department's name for 150 years.. until doublespeak became popular in the 1940's
- > is there an easy way to verify it?
No, because they don't enforce their rules against obfuscation.
Even if there was it wouldn't help you - extensions regularly get sold to scammers who can push whatever update they want. I documented an extension with a few hundred thousand install base, that got sold and turned into malware. Overnight went from tens of lines of code un obfuscated to 10k+ lines obfuscated. Then they flooded the extensions review pages with fake reviews to burry complaints. I got a ticket open thru a contact which to Google's credit they investigated but they decided it wasn't violating enough policies to take any action.
- Well aware it's absurdly expensive.
I was just highlighting that whats taking 10k/year in public school tuition (18k for Michigan (!) ) to ~130k for the degree is the living expenses, which exist wether or not they attend school.
- > a decent state university ... He is looking at ~$130K in costs
130k seems high for public school. How much of that is room and board?
- Whats wrong with verifying the ID?
The issue is they decided to roll their own extremely questionable service and insecurely store sensitive images in a public bucket
Multiple SAAS vendors provide ID verification for ~$2/each. They should have eaten that fee when it was small and then found a way pass it onto the users later
- They make a case for not trusting Hims but not sure why that means I should trust Novo Nordisk
- -> I'm unsure as to how the US installed him in 1953. He had been Shah for 11 years.
Operation Ajax
- > But every year a small handful of dum-dums made it all the way to exam without having connected two dots, and I have to fail them and tell them that the three semesters they have wasted so far without any teachers calling their bullshit is a waste of life
Wow.
- PSA is only one of several diagnostics that would have caught it at the level of care POTUS gets.
This probably has more to do with the type of content you are consuming. If you watch things for young adults, it will probably follow "the Heroes Journey" - wether it is LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Wars etc. (the West) or Naruto, Pokemon, Dragon Ball/Journey to the West (the East)
