- His posts, his statements, his treatment of other people, yes, he advocates for things which cause harm to others. The term is stochastic terrorism. He creates a welcoming space _to people who are accepting of his bigoted ideology_ which gives some nice publicity, but is not creating a kind and welcoming community.
- platforming him at all is nonsensical if you want to claim to have a kind and/or welcoming community
- the only thing his statement was missing was thank you for your attention to this matter
- What is broken in your mind? What things did you have a "not that great" experience with? There are de facto standards and defaults in Ruby as well.
- This is great timing, I'm just setting up a homelab and planning to run Immich on a mini PC server connected to a NAS. I did find icloudpd, which seems like a pretty reliable syncing tool for people in Apple ecosystem. https://github.com/icloud-photos-downloader/icloud_photos_do...
- Republicans want it open with the conditions, conditions that are unacceptable for the health of society
- by thanking Ruby Central who is the aggressor but not thanking the maintainers for their decade plus of work?

- This is only one of many examples over years of DHH’s ideology. Analyzing this one instance (the most recent) does not change anything, this is a drop in a bucket
- The only people who believe the world isn’t on fire are the ones with the matches
- > And Vehicle Motion Cues help reduce motion sickness in moving vehicles.
I love that the copy was directly copy pasted from iOS copy. I don't think vehicle motion sickness is a big concern with macOS
- unfortunately the average quality of thought process of hn when it comes to life and common sense is the opposite of its technical knowledge
- We use it to generate sitemaps with >30 million entries. Ported a Rails task that took ~9 hours to Crystal, using a library with the same API as the Ruby gem we had used. Essentially a copy-paste-tweak that took a couple hours of effort. Crystal version now runs in prod in about 30 minutes.
- This is such a helpful way of viewing it. I have a principal at work that will comment on things to delay or slow down, and then never revisit after their comments are addressed.
