- Interesting. I expected frontend devs to be able to handle the front-of and back-of equally well, but it sounds like that's very rarely the case. Are people that fall into this camp more likely to be at design-led companies, like Apple?
Also, does anyone have resource recommendations for a frontend engineer to get better at these things? I've built up some solid intuition after working closely with a designer, but my big hurdle has been feeling like I need to dive deep into design world, get good at Figma, etc. Reading about the theory/concepts makes sense, but putting it into practice is what I feel will make it really stick.
- I've been looking for a fun project to start and I'm already thoroughly enjoying this book. Kudos for making the writing particularly engaging.
This comic book about how Chrome works is also a great place to get started: https://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/med_00.html
- I spent 10 years playing on a keyboard with unweighted keys and I'm rather certain it affected my desire to practice. The other large part was that my teacher did not spend much time on theory with me.
Also, when recitals came around it was a big shift to playing on a grand piano with real weighted keys, and that, coupled with the nerves of playing in front of an audience, often led to mistakes.
I think the weighted keys help you feel more physically connected to the instrument with more of your body. Unweighted keys require the same involvement as typing on a computer keyboard.
- This is awesome. I find myself avoiding Miro/Figjam these days because of how much point & clicking and formatting I need to do to get a flowchart going.
Would love to eventually have functionality with this to create UML or system architecture diagrams.
Props for setting up monetization from the get-go and having a super simple UI.
