  1. Whatabout much?
  2. Principles matter, like doors are either closed or open.

Accepting that people who write things like --I kid you not-- "...using nascent AI emotions" will think it is acceptable to interfere with anyone's email inbox is I think implicitly accepting a lot of subsequent blackmirrorisms.

  3. I agree to strongly disagree.

There are strong ethical rules around including humans in experiments, and adding a 60+ year old programming language designer as unwitting test subject does not pass muster.

Also this experiment is —please tell me if I'm wrong— not nowhere near curing cancer right?

I don't expect an answer: "You're absolutely right" is taken as a given here sorry.

  4. Rob over-reacted? How would you like it if you were a known figure and your efforts to remain attentive to the general public lead to this?

Your openness weaponized in such deluded way by some randomizing humans who have so little to say that they would delegate their communication to GPT's?

I had a look to try and understand who can be that far out, all I could find is https://theaidigest.in/about/

Please can some human behind this LLMadness speak up and explain what the hell they were thinking?

  5. Spamming people is cool now if an LLM does it? Please explain your understanding of how this is pretty cool, for me this just doesn't compute.
  6. "Reverse centaur" is I think better fit for purpose than eg. Minotaur, as the head of a bull doesn't match. "Reverse centaur" does not say what the head is made of. Maybe Iron Maiden (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_maiden) could work, but the band very much occupies that meme-space...
  7. ok I do not understand.

What is preventing this import std/errorcodes

from allowing me to use: raise errorcodes.RangeError instead of what Nim has?

or even why not even "import std/ErrorCodes" and having the plural in ErrorCodes.RangeError I wouldn't mind

  8. Oh wow snorted? Did you keep in touch how well is he doing now? I suspect he's not doing so well with the brain damage and the likely switch to other substances.
  9. I think this is relevant to HN because the HN crowd understanding hyper-exposed themes better is a net positive.. So:

One of the very many supersad things in this: the Broadcaster weakened here (Kan), as the public broadcaster, has been one of the voices or resistance against the deranged government that, starting from a point of 100% sympathy after the Oct 7 attack, has managed to provoke the blowback seen here.

  10. I really works: if you got cancer, sign up for the SVO to get money, go run a bit in Ukraine, and then you don't die of cancer!
  11. I really think the proper term is "YOLO" for "You Only Live Once", "Turbo" is wrong the LLM is not going to run any faster. Please if somebody is listening let's align on explicit terminology and for this YOLO is really perfect. Also works for "You ...and your data. Only Live Once"
  12. Don't you think there are a few things we could say on this subject to bring the debate to good-old-HN level?

    (1) LLM's Attention mechanisms are clear enough at a conceptual level: "the chicken didn't cross the road because it was too wide"... OK, so LLMs "understand" that the "it" is the road, because QVK etc is enough to "learn" this.

some say this is all you need... I beg to differ:

    (2) Human brains are complex but better and better studied. You have one, should be interested in the hardware. So: IMHO current LLM's look a lot like the Default Mode Network in our brains. If you read the description there: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Default_mode_network I think you will see, like I do, a striking similarity between the behaviour of LLM's and our DMN's ways.

What a synthetic FPN would be I, have no idea so here goes: The bag is very interesting!

  13. Well... enough bad memory of some teacher wanting us all to read and ponder this thing in class, seemingly with the confused notion that this would be some kind of lesson in psychology.

I think the author would be very surprised if he'd been there to see what amount of fluff has been generated around his nice and simple quasi-autobiographical codebook.

  14. LMGTFO:

...singling out ennemies of the Reich... https://www.google.com/search?q=thiel+antichrist

...democracy aiming to be a fair competition of ideas... https://www.google.com/search?q=thiel+competition+is+for+los...

  15. how can they be hidden?
  16. The massive overlays of what-to-watch-next hiding most of the video much too early, ie. before the very end, of the video you were trying to watch until the end but now just ragequit and downloaded instead... are very ugly
  17. This is all well meaning and nice... Still between Dr Russel Barkley's excellent lectures and papers' reviews, and Dr Rege's very clear explanations, both on Youtube, your time may well be better spent there instead of here if you have an interest on the subject.
  18. what a low effort post. the whole content is this:

Read in the Substack app Open app The "Learned Helplessness" of AI we're losing our ability to think himanshu Nov 19, 2025

Every time you ask ChatGPT to write the difficult logic, prepare a plan, or do something creative, you are doing one thing: outsourcing friction.

And friction is where skill is built.

We are training our brains to believe: If I can’t instantly retrieve the answer, the machine will retrieve it for me.

This isn’t about being productive. This is about being functionally dependent. The moment we loose access to an LLM, we become clueless 3 year olds.

I might be wrong , i’ll write another post about accelerated learning through AI.
