  1. How are people not wearing seatbelt? I've never seen a car that doesn't make a constant annoying noise if you're not wearing it while driving. Do they mod the car to disable this safety system? That seems too far stretched...
  2. Myeah... I've had weird issues on my network that I could only resolve by disabling IPv6. Granted, it's probably my fault, but if everything still works fine with ipv4 that's fine to me. One day I will get into it and learn how it work and maybe I'll get it figured out... One day...
  3. Engagement bait will get amplified even more, with the goal of gathering human generated data and user retention.

Lots of new subreddits have been popping up this year, in different languages, that are flooded with AI generated rage and engagement bait posts. Facebook is feeding boomers with the same kind of slop.

We will see the repercussions of this on society.

  4. I wish, but from what I've seen, most "normies" don't care at all as long as they are entertained. It makes me depressed seeing my friends consuming and sharing all that AI slop while either believing it's true, or not even asking themselves if it is. At least they're having fun while they still can... right?
  5. Too real :(
  6. I find doing my job as best as I can intrinsically rewarding. Even tho I am getting paid peanuts and have to give more than half of those peanuts to my government. I'm that kind of sucker.
  7. I often write PR descriptions, in which I write a short explanation and try to anticipate some comments I might get. Well, every time I do, I will still get those exact comments because nobody bothers reading the description.

Not to say you shouldn't write descriptions, I will keep doing it because it's my job. But a lot of people just don't care enough or are too distracted to read them.

  8. That sounds like maladaptive anxiety.
  9. Ah, I've actually built one myself recently and it works great for plant tissue culture. Been using it for years now. Just used a commercial HEPA filter, a centrifugal fan, and a wooden box to equalize the pressure. Then it's a matter of regulating the voltage to the fan until you get the right amount of pressure to get laminar flow.
  10. What's a good, non-chromium alternative?
  11. 150M seems like such a small number for something that would have so much impact
  12. I agree, I would define those *thin desires" as whatever I'm engaging in a lot automatically, but if I were to pause and ask myself "do I really want to do this? Is this beneficial to me or am I being exploited?", part of me would say no. My "thin desires" might not be someone else's. We each have to take the time to ask ourselves these questions in order to figure it out.
  13. Very nicely written. I've been slowly removing thin desires from my life. It's hard to do at first, but what I've noticed is once I am free from them, I do not miss them at all. Almost like I was under a spell.
  14. How do you tax companies once they've become more powerful than the government (which can be equated to a company representing humans), and don't need humans anymore because they've automated labor?

For now we can tax them because they depend on us. Once they don't need us anymore, it's over, they'll let us starve and carry on.

  15. I can't really think of anything unfortunately, except courtesy stuff like holding a door. People don't really interact with strangers where I live.
  16. No, I'm from Belgium and we get awful tasteless tomatoes from the Netherlands.
  17. Will they manage to make mass produced tomatoes when worse than they are now? Seriously they're so bad, they're not even worth purchasing in my opinion.
