  1. I use https://lob.com - it's a YC co that offers an API for letter printing+mailing.
  2. Thanks for sharing!

Lob.com is a powerful tool - I think more people should experiment with it. I know Robin Sloan did an experiment a few years ago that used GPT-2 to send poetry to people via Lob mail. There's something so cool about APIs that create actions in the physical world.

  3. What's old is new again. I wanted to share an experiment I built for my blog: a print edition, delivered to physical mailboxes.

This idea was inspired by Craig's "Between Two Mountains" pop-up. As those emails accumulated in my inbox, I wanted to print them out so I could carry them to a coffee shop. That sent me down a rabbit hole, and I ended up building a printing system for my own site.

Sharing because I think it's a fun idea that I hope more blogs embrace. And, it's built on the YC company Lob.

  4. What's to stop congress from passing a blanket "most favored nation" law for VA + medicare on all pricing, inclusive of insurance rates and discounts? Seems like it would be fair and useful.
  5. I'm presenting it "useful not true" - not an RCA.
  6. Originally explained on the blancolirio channel on YouTube -

The timing and manner of the break make a lot more intuitive sense when you consider that the engine is essentially a massive gyroscope. As the plane starts to rotate, the spinning engine resists changes to the direction of its spin axis, putting load on the cowling. When the cowling and mount fail, that angular momentum helps fling the engine toward the fuselage.

  7. My iPhone 13 mini broke last week and I was pleasantly surprised that AppleCare replaced it. "4 more years!"
  8. Interesting - this reminds me a lot of the story with Cisco: for decades they remained a California C-Corp while many other companies reincorporated in Delaware. I once heard a lawyer say “all my clients are Delaware C-Corps except Cisco, and their reason is political.”

Eventually Cisco did indeed buckle in 2021 and reincorporate in Delaware . . .

  9. Good reminder for me to set up a UPS for my home lab before I go on vacation. . .
