  1. What works for one might not work for another one. Can't generalize.
  2. Homeschooling doesn't mean the kid stays at home all the time. We homeschool and my kid has classes and different activities all week, interacts with friends and teams. It has worked very well for us given our lifestyle. I would understand it's not for everyone.
  3. not caring about politics is a crime these days. This is just one example of completely unacceptable things happening.
  4. Only those who don’t care about what’s happening and keep their heads down in order to maintain their perfect and convenient lives.
  5. I wouldn't worry too much about what to call it. Assigning a distinct label separates it from traditional engineering in a way that it assumes AI-assisted coding is only for a subset of developers. At some point the unusual approach will be writing code without any AI assistance. So the transition will leave the "vibe" behind.
  6. Well, native apps are more popular among non tech savvy people because they’re easier to find and install. I was talking to the guy who works on our backyard and they don't even know what a browser is on their phone.
  7. Civil liberties, freedom of expression and press, freedom of association, freedom of movement, right to fair and free elections, legal and personal security rights, rule of law, judicial independence, protection from arbitrary detention and torture, privacy, economic and social rights, property rights, equality, effects on activists and the general population, transnational repression.

these rights. Not sure what in the world you're talking about

  8. It still blows my mind most people that agree with this post actually don't know what the word means. This is just a catchy word to divide us.
  9. This page is basically saying they're taking your rights away. And you're ok with it?
  10. Pretty sad to see this. Everyone in the US should be against fascism if they wanted a prosperous life. They're weaponizing the word to get what they want. Its absolute madness. Pretty sad to see this country fall into this state.
  11. and the point is not to take that offer right
  12. Im glad people are actually following through and actually canceling, this is how you send a message.
  13. nothing of what he said was controversial, Im convinced they were just waiting for the next joke to do it anyways.
  14. I remember watching the movie Idiocracy and laughing, thinking something like that could never happen to us. I can’t watch it anymore because it’s too close to reality
  15. I'm actually curious about this one. Something that feels more seamless in my pocket, however like you mentioned, it would require for me to not use a case, which is something I might do.
  16. My friends from other countries aren't coming anymore, fearing they'll be wrongfully detained. It's a sad situation. I never thought anything could be worse than the COVID era, and the worst part is that some people actually cheer for this. This isn't speculation it's really happening and it's pretty disheartening.
  17. This is an attack to the states, it would significantly weaken local governments, forcing major cuts to essential services, and having more control.
  18. So you're essentially trying to increase the negative economic impact, not to mention the inhumane treatment.
  19. You won't have a hackernews anymore if the country goes to shit though and we don't do anything about it, so it does matter. If you don't do politics, politics will do you.
  20. Oh silly, a military parade is political. A display of military strength, military parades demonstrate national power, and supports a particular leader or political agenda.
  21. What about intellectual property and cultural nuances. I can think of many jobs that can't be outsourced because of this
  22. Well some companies decide to produce more as well, this happens in every industry, once they can get more efficient for the same price, they see it as an opportunity to produce more.
  23. It's a game. Think of DuoLingo as a fun introduction, a springboard for serious language learning. People I know who use it have fun, but by no means are advanced in whatever language their learning.
  24. The way I approach is, I try to design or solve the issue first to the best of my ability, then I let the LLM give me its solution. Compare and take whatever is useful. I know this is not the most effective way, but it's the way I feel like I'm still thinking and not becoming super dependent.
  25. no no, it's totally reasonable to ask such question given the recent events.
  26. My goto for relaxing is "Lonely Mountains Downhill" for the Switch. It's so relaxing, you can hear the nature and there's no background music. It's a third-person biking game.
  27. Isn't the goal to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and contribute to a cleaner environment?
  28. I love how CSS Transforms are so efficient. This is a great lightweight alternative over GSAP.
  29. Immigration policies are way stricter now, and they're leaving people out. Also related, some countries are issuing warnings for people traveling to the US. https://travelnoire.com/europe-us-travel-advisory
