  1. I think you could set up postfix to smtp forward to those services. So it could handle the oauth2 and you wouldn’t need to configure your client
  2. I read Hard Drive by James Wallace and Jim Erickson a couple years ago. It was written between Windows 3.1 and 95. Super interesting to read Microsoft history from the perspective of that time period. I loved it.
  3. A Shrek game being the first published game with deferred rendering is hilarious
  4. I was just thinking a header with a suggested poll rate might be nice
  5. SQS, Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, QPID, etc… any message broker that provides the competing consumer pattern. though I’ll say having managed many of these message brokers myself, it’s definitely better paying for a managed service. They’re a nightmare when you start running into problems.
  6. Woah this looks awesome, thanks for sharing!
  7. I’ve been playing it on Mac with crossover. Works great
  8. That’s gotten pretty hard to do recently since Musk cracked down on api access
  9. How does this blocking work with TLS? Does the Chinese firewall MITM HTTPS somehow?
  10. The guy that developed the technique works on Path of Exile. They’re using it for POE2, he gave an awesome talk about it here

  11. I’ve gotten a taste of that experience playing older multiplayer games that have a small player base. I much prefer it to games with millions of players where you’ll never see the people you play a match with again

I also love games with community ran servers for the same reason

  12. I love it. I’ve switched a lot of my news consumption to RSS. This feels like another step in that direction that I’d love to try.
  13. Man that’s a blast from the past
  14. Look at the sex offender registry in your area
  15. I love NodeRED, been running it in my homelab for a few years
  16. He’s a time traveler from 38056
  17. I think I heard the games Valve published for PS3 didn’t really use the cell stuff
  18. This sounds awesome can you share any details on how you got this to work?
  19. I’ve used it with podman before, worked fine
  20. There aren’t recommendations like youd see on the YouTube front page. There are “next video” recommendations like YouTube though
  21. It’s figurative in most sects I believe. Catholics take it literally
  22. My dad played AD&D as a kid like you, and introduced it to us when we were young (like your kids). We got our cousins into it and we spent every summer adventuring. When 5e came out we tried it a couple times and really didn’t like it for the reasons you mentioned.

Coming back to D&D as an adult (coworkers play during lunch once a week) has been strange. The new style of play feels rigid. I can understand the standardization to try and create a uniform experience but it feels like a little of that AD&D magic is lost. Also I’m an adult now haha

  23. You can find used 1080ti's for like $100 nowadays. I still use one for 1440p gaming and get excellent frames with most games. Kinda mind blowing value
  24. My wife bought me a software defined radio kit for Christmas. I want to learn how to use it with a longer term goal of using it to pull down images from weather satellites like I’ve seen others do on YouTube
  25. The Forge helped Bethesda out on Starfield’s rendering. I find this a little worrying considering how badly that game performs with mediocre graphics
  26. I think he’s referring to the Adblock as the free service here.
  27. There’s a big 3rd party server scene for the PS2 as well using alternate DNS servers. Pretty awesome to see people care enough about these old games to set stuff up like this
