  1. I've been working part-time for two years, works great for me! It's not easy to negotiate—and not with every company—but feasible.
  2. Just discovered https://posseparty.com/ to ease your cross-posting.
  3. I've ditched RSS feeds more than 10 years ago but I'm increasingly wanting to go back to them. Thank you for sharing this blog post, it'll help to get me started.
  4. Then it's the worst marketing piece because there's not an even single link to the app.

You might not appreciate the topic, but this is definitely not an ad, just honest learning and sharing about a difficult part of the entrepreneur job.

  5. I didn't know who he is and still found this blog post really interesting because the real topic is about marketing your app when you're a software developer.
  6. Unfortunately it's not possible to add custom query parameters
  7. I definitely recommend you to read A History of the World in 12 Maps by Jerry Broton. It's very interesting and you learn a lot about our world and its history.
  8. I've never seen this topic so well explained, thank you for sharing!
  9. If I want a dumb phone for my daily needs, I have to keep a smartphone at home to stay in contact with my friends that are using Whatsapp. I don't really feel free here.
  10. I totally agree with you, but asking my friends to move to Telegram isn't easy. And multiplying the channels is a complex thing. Nowadays I have iMessage, Messenger, WhatsApp—I deliberately omit Slack and Discord—and sometimes I wonder "where is the discussion with friend X?"
  11. But you need two devices, and this seems overkill. Without this limitation you could have only one phone.
  12. Notifications aren't the culprit, they're already really limited on my phone.

I also appreciate the fact that I could use a simpler phone that really fits the original need: staying in contact, instead of doom-scrolling.

  13. That's good to know, but you still need a smartphone to handle the connection. Having a dumb phone wouldn't work, if I properly understand how this works.
  14. You're right, but I don't appreciate to be enforced to.
  15. I've been searching for dumb phones these last weeks to avoid using my phone too much. But it comes with issues:

    - my bank requires a smartphone

    - whatsapp desktop requires a smartphone too

This smartphone could be an alternative: no videos, you can still use third party applications, perfect for reading.

    Thank you for sharing!

  16. What a shameful government!

    clicks the link

    blocked

Oh right, France government is shameful too.

  17. While I agree with all the code corrections added to provide proper webhook handling, I think it also raises a lot of concerns about ORMs. Writing type-safe SQL queries with a tool like Drizzle seems essential, because there is no ambiguity left on the way the query will affect the data.
  18. Nice experiment. Is the code available somewhere?
  19. > we still need to build software, not productionize prototypes.

    Can't agree more.

  20. I suppose you are American, this isn't obscur for Europeans at all.
  21. Love it! Finally a product that properly leverages AI :)
  22. I've recently disabled code completions, it's too much mental workload to read all those suggestions for so little quality.

I still use the chat whenever I need it.

  23. What's insane is that, in France, we have France Connect, which is exactly what you describe: a third-party authentication platform maintained by the government.

Lately, a new law just passed to force porn websites to check the age of visitors. I would have been fine with an authentication going through France Connect:

    - the gov knows which website you went to, just like your DNS provider would, but it doesn't which content - and the website knows which content you've watched but not who's watching.

    Best of both worlds!

But no, we have to send a copy of our ID card to the website, which is INSANE because the website knows WHO you are and WHAT you're watching.

  24. I find snippets really useful compared to AI because you have placeholders. You simply have to press Tab to switch from one placeholder to another and fill your snippet with your own values.

Additionally, AI doesn't know how to produce the same output on each execution.

  25. Seems a bit brutal. What's the point of deleting the binaries?
