- Yep; meant opt-in, by default
- What else do they do with the user data besides ads targeting? Serious question.
- None of this is surprising. I wouldn’t say they are disconnected, unless they were already born with a silver spoon and have never had to live like the rest of us. I would say they know how it is for the rest of us, but just don’t care.
- You know there are chrome extensions for this?
- That’s been their game plan all along. I think Ring pro was free for Prime members. Now, we need to pay a subscription. Amazon Video used to be free. Now, there’s ads.
- But that would increase their cortisol, according to the founders.
- Bias
- Company wide policy, apparently.
- I've been considering using a second webcam stream focused on my screen just to assure hiring managers that I don't have ChatGPT on my screen, or anywhere else. Kind of like chess players do it sometimes on online tournaments. I've been hearing people complain about cheating a lot.
- What exactly are you suggesting here? A standardized test that applies to all your job applications? Or, a candidate having to drive to a test center for every company they apply to? Or something else?
- Seems like our only option is to wither and die while corporations make bank. Sorry to be so cynical, but if something as critical and essential as clean drinking water is too much to ask, can’t help but be cynical.
- Congratulations; really impressive.
- What I find most infuriating is that people just don’t care, even when faced with enough evidence that their strategy of mass applying even when they are not a good fit is failing. It just makes it harder for everybody else as you said.
- Wrong forum. You’re looking for r/wallstreetbets or another like that.
- It’s a spectrum - most of us are ambiverts.
- Would have been a Hindu Jesus, if we had named him that. Missed that chance!
- Indian (Hindu) here who went to a Catholic convent back home. My favorite memory is of a reenactment of Jesus’ birth on stage by a bunch of 10th graders (my class) and instantly falling for the girl that played Mary. I’m now married to her and we have a toddler. Merry Christmas!

- Sure.
- Everyone wins when they have the benefit of hindsight.
- This. This is why companies win.
- They made the best decision based on the information they had at the time. No need to mock someone based on that.
- Is there any data to support this claim? Or, is this one of those "fraud" claims that are may be 1 or 2 cases being used to get rid of the entire process?
- You see, optimizing the three factors you mentioned does not increase shareholder value. They don’t care about society, the environment or work-life balance.
- I polled my network of about 30 people in tech to get a rough idea of who preferred hybrid vs. in-office. Almost all managers of people wanted it to be in-office. Not even hybrid. Bad survey, but still.
And this was exclusively at SMBs and startups. At least, the FAANG companies have structure and you know what to expect.
