  1. Next time you give Android a try, you might like Solid Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplor...
  2. That game is beautiful, more so on the eink display...
  3. it's not a recipe, but I found this sufficiently interesting, at least for grasping the conceptual differences.

  4. "The hottest new programming language is English" - Karpathy

I call bullshit, mainly because any natural language is ambiguous at best, and incomplete at worst.

  5. I envy your bubble.
  6. I only know C#'s async/await, and know nothing about goroutines / virtual or green threads.

You seem knowledgeable on the matter, care to share some resources that might help me grok the differences?

  7. we're a very short step away from a "hardware" database
  8. And in sw dev, especially the US flavor, individual workers are highly directly incentivized to hit that next earnings target via vesting programs...
  9. > A very cool technology to produce products that nobody wants.

creative power without control is like a rocket with no navigation—sure, you'll launch, but who knows where you'll crash!

  10. medium.com too... I hate it
  11. You come from a weird place.
  12. It's long, and has examples in C#, but this article by Jon Skeet should instill some healthy doubt in your convictions:

  13. This is for .NET, but the issues described stand for any stack:

  14. I'm the one above complaining for being "transparent".

You're right, I failed that game.

I'm fully aware I suck at playing the de-facto state of professionalism, or lack thereof, in the job market.

Fuck me for trying to be an adult trying to adult with other adults, I guess.

  15. I was recently turned down on the first interview with an HR head. Motive: I said I can sometimes be perceived as frank in an argument, as an answer to the classic "tell me one of your shortcomings".

I'm not saying it can't be a valid reason. I guess I just don't get their values.

I'm convinced I would have been a pretty good match technically, but never got the chance to show it.

Italy, opening had max €50k budget.

I have 17 yoe and obviously it was not my first rodeo. Maybe I finally learned that sincerity and transparency is a dumbass move.

  16. Thing is, it doesn't happen like flicking a switch, it's progressive and tricky to process as a caretaker.

I'm seeing this right now with a close friend and her 83yo mother.

It's seriously damaging to my friend, and no amount of my reasoning with her seems to help her process her mother's cognitive decay...

...and it leaves me defeated also, I don't have the tools to really be of true help.

  17. SwiftKey does too..
  18. There's a "Hews 2"..

Also "Hacki" and "HACK". All similar (of course), but all in some way lacking..

  19. Here parmigiano reggiano prices range from 16€/kg (12 months old, and on offer) to well above 30€/kg (24 months old and beyond).

...I'm guilty of using too much of it... it often also is my go to snack during late night fridge peeping... but hey, there are worse (and costlier) habits to entertain

  20. I have so much envy for you right now. I'm an Italian living in the northeast of Italy. I love Tête de Moine, but I cannot find a place selling it at decent prices..

It always has a ridiculous "luxury" tax, ending up above 50€/kg, which is absurd for Italy...

  21. do you know if ADO has any caching mechanisms for pipelines doing builds?
  22. I've always heard predatory species like tuna cannot be farmed, but my knowledge may be outdated
  23. it doesn't taste like anything... it's 90%+ water, and water solid remains is basically tofu: absorbs the flavor of what it's cooked with
  24. It always amazes me how few devs know. GitExtensions.

Only other git UI that's comes close to it is Tortoise, of which I've only used the hg variant a while back.

  25. did you evaluate GitExtensions?
  26. That's why (on Windows) I use and love GitExtensions.

It always shows complete commands it issues, and you can fully view the complete log.

  27. maybe it's about being able to adequately pay his team, which might require posting regularly to insure a steady income for payroll...
  28. I'll add some:

    AlphaPhoenix - science

Jay Foreman - UK centric cartography skits, very funny

Atomic Frontier - various, Tom Scott style

Climate Town - US centric climate related skits, very informative, also very funny

    Dr. Becky - astronomy

Into Europe - light, EU related informative skits

Johnny Harris - journalist turned YouTuber, opinionated but tries to keep a politically neutral stance
