- n72Ugh. I while back I switched all my gcal events which emailed me to reminders. Now I have to change them all back again.
- Check about:support and look for a number higher than 0 in the "Multiprocess Windows" entry. Old extensions or something may be keeping you from running multi-process.
- Multiprocessing did nothing for me, since I apparently hadn't configured it to use more than one process. Some extensions I had were keeping it from doing so. Once I got all that sorted out, it flew. If you're still on a slowish FF, make sure you're actually multiprocess.
- Yup, this doesn't contain any quotes from well placed sources or anything like that nor delivers any new information about, say, Meg Whitman's candidacy. Totally devoid of merit.
- I guess you just must have been momentarily distracted when you reached the part in the article in which she explicitly states why: "While gender of a leader should not matter to dispatching such appalling behaviors, the symbolism over the appointment of a female CEO at Silicon Valley’s most toxic-bro startup is unquestionable."
- You should maybe check out who @zeynep is before you suggest she knows nothing about this subject.
- Don't know why you're being down voted. I immediately thought the same thing. I'm all for CEO's being held accountable for these types of things, but it doesn't seem to happen very often. So, asking whether gender plays a role is absolutely fair game. Could also be, of course, that she's embattled, so it's easy to do.
- It's about time. I'm not willing to put in the time to attempt to enlighten some guy on the internet who's claims imply that he considers himself considerably more intelligent than the great thinkers of history who have struggled with issues in philosophy.
- Pick one:
1. There's something you missed along the way and thus you fail to appreciate the complexity of the issues.
2. You're considerably more intelligent than the hundreds of thousands of very intelligent people who struggle with the issues.
- This is one of those moments when you sigh and don't bother. If you've done an undergrad in philosophy and still don't think there are parts which aren't very sophisticated and difficult, we'll... Sigh.
- You know how, when your opinionated uncle reads a very high level description of some tech thing you know a lot about and then tells you how it will or won't work, you kind of sigh and don't even bother to try to explain just how much he doesn't know about the subject? Engineers who've taken a few philosophy undergrad courses should keep that in mind when drawing broad conclusions about philosophy. I'm not saying you shouldn't opine, but I'd suggest doing so with the appropriate amount of humility.
- If you think Plato is cool with the 'but that's just you're opinion' defense, I'd suggest a reread.

- Controlling a community very rarely works. Best thing, IMHO, is to embrace the market, as it were, and assume something will come along to fill the space once occupied by the thing you loved before it morphed. In other words, try lobster.rs.
- You seriously can't dustinguish between his writing and that of in the New Yorker?
- Yeah, so presumptuous of the architect to assume he'd want a kitchen. I'll bet this architect also dared to assume he'd want a toilet.
- The founder of Soylent clearly believes he's an expert in many, many fields: http://robrhinehart.com/?p=1331
BTW, anyone know a good word for this attitude? I wouldn't call it hybris, though it's closely related. It's a mix of arrogance, over confidence, ignorance, plus more and very prevalent in SV.
- You don't understand the concept of sample size.
