  1. what i noticed from you and a couple other similar stories in this thread is that a same email is used at multiple places. Have you looked into email aliases like simplelogin, anonaddy, or anything of that sort?

or at the very least, the basic username+alias@domain.tld? this let's you know at least which thing was compromised.

of course, I don't recommend doing the same for important services like you banking accounts, but for the vast majority, having an alias would be enough.

and compartmentalisation always helps (different emails/accounts for personal, govt, and work domains).

  2. parisidau, I hope you get your account back.

you can in the meantime, and for the future, try compartmentalizing services you use. the old saying of "all eggs in one basket" applies here as well.

VPS, hard drives, etc. are cheap and keep you more in control of your own data than you're with big tech.

  3. I keep copies of any important stuff i need on my server, and in a few hard drives at my home. i don't use any "cloud".
  4. your blog is really cool
  5. lynx, elinks, and w3m don't
  6. i don't see any change other than display colours and font looking more crispy. i use computer mostly for watching and programming. some very light FOSS gaming(Luanti, STK).
  7. with 4.20, there is experimental wayland support for almost all xfce4 applications. I've used it and didn't even face a single crash.

    So, it's not far away.

  8. if it were a small company, it'd have been dilisted from google's play store in an instant.
  9. it does exist in `about:config`, which could be made as a UI setting instead:

    `media.peerconnectin.enabled`.

on cromite[1], a hardened chromium fork, there is such a setting, both in the settings page, as well as when you click on the lock icon in the address bar.
