  1. I've tried to get MPTCP support in Chrome (default OFF, with a knob to turn on in GUI) but the reason most often people gave was that there is how to handle support.

Heck. I even tried to add it into git because i was having issues with reliable connectivity with WiFi and 5G (i was in a hotel at that time) while working on a project.

So unless, if there is some reason why people kept giving reasons of not include it. I just do not have a reason to add support for $(name your favorite software)

    https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/63...

  2. As per the article mentions of resolving AAAA IPv6 records, a feature was just merged into Linux's systemd-resolved last week.

    https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/34165

    So you can do.

    RefuseRecordTypes=AAAA

So there, your DNS won't ever query for IPv6 AAAA records.

(in fact you can refuse any DNS questions like MX, SRV, TXT as well with:

    RefuseRecordTypes=MX SRV TXT)

Note - I started adding that feature because some applications were "misbehaving" and querying AAAA records when IPv6 stack was disabled.

  3. The last few parts of this article reminds me of what i had been working on for the past few years.

    It's called "Named-Data Network".

  4. I had been tired of waiting for someone (like Linux Foundation) to step up to provide opensource forks of Nomad and Consul.

Had been 5 months and the new hashicorp's code has been changed (bugfixes, etc) and as the drift from the last opensource code becomes wider (even worst, a major change with major versions), i'm setup an organisation for the community to discuss and help on the future to work on the last opensourced version of consul and nomad.

My organisation depends a lot on consul and nomad and the BSL makes it unnecessarily complicated for our case.

    https://github.com/OpenHotPot/OpenHotPot (Consul) https://github.com/OpenHotPot/OpenNood (Nomad)

  5. Reminds me of monkey linux back then in the 90s that allows Linux to be used on a MS-DOS partition.
  6. API Gateway written in Go that is not using any NGINX as a proxy (like Kong) with protect mode for unauthenticated APIs.

Kubernetes support is in the works.

  7. Flitnetics | Backend Engineer | REMOTE | Part-Time

We work on DevOps tools and services such as Grafana, Loki, Jaeger and Kiali.

So knowledge of Kubernetes, Distributed Systems and Golang is essential.

At this time, we need someone who has knowledge in writing code in Golang to interface to loki and cortex to save data in s3. You will be working closely with me for this project and there will be other projects which you will work on if you fit our team, including doing full time.

  8. Thanks @criag0990 for sharing your problems with the Jawi Keyboard. Didn't know about Microsoft Store.

I'm using a macOS so i didn't notice - also macOS already has their own "Malay Arabic - Jawi" Keyboard built in so thankfully i didn't need to make one for macOS.

But i'll try to upload my version up to Microsoft Store (which is not SIRIM but based on phonetics from latin alphabets to make typing more natural as you don't need arabic stickers or arabic keyboard - You can use your normal QWERTY keyboard.

you can download it from here: https://jawikey.com but i will try to get it in Microsoft Store. :-)

I am not sure about the font because we use Ubuntu fonts and it works perfectly fine. (maybe missing for "va" character)

As for the font is that as long the font supports those jawi-specific unicode characters everything should be fine. For now, things have gotten a lot better with Jawi as compared 6-7 years ago.

The version from your URL is actually the official Malaysian SIRIM Standard which is based on the Arabic keyboard.

  9. I've never seen a sermon in Singapore (usually shown from a projector) in Jawi. Maybe the Imams there do read the same copy but in Jawi and the congregants in latin alphabets because i don't think the masses can read Jawi.

Maybe i should check on MUIS's (Singapore's Muslim Religious Authority) website to see if there are Jawi copies of the sermons.

On another note there is Arwi which is an Arabic-Tamil script, which is in a more dire state than Jawi. Unlike Jawi, Arwi is not preserved (or protected by authority) in anyway like how Malaysia does and most of the corpus written in Arwi is now being eaten by termites, which is a really sad thing that the knowledge specific to the Indian muslims is getting lost in time and is not being digitized.

  10. What is mentioned the website is basically the Jawi script.

I am a Singaporean and got married to my wife based in Kelantan, Malaysia and i had a culture shock when i had to see Jawi manuscripts on every shops here in Kelantan.

For shops signboard in Jawi is also common in Terengganu. Even my marriage certificate is in Jawi script. For most of the religious education, they still use Jawi as a script to master before they can become Islamic scholars. I think it also applies to Indonesia in the same context.

The Jawi script in Malaysia is preserved because it is under the King/Sultans decree for it to be an official manuscript and the usage for education and official matters.

Writing a keyboard for Jawi script is relatively easy when mapping phonetic latin alphabets with the same sounding Jawi (arabic alphabet) (eg. A = aleef, B = ba)

I had written the keyboards mapping for Windows, UNIX (xkeyboard) and iOS/Android but at that time there weren't any support but now there is (Called "Malay Arabic")

I have the breadth of knowledge and had worked in Systems and Network for the most part of 20 years and am an experienced developer with Ruby/Python/Go and PHP.

I had also worked on Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and MySQL. Even optimized for Oracle database SP compilation times for an employer from 12 hours to 10 minutes to complete at one time and had been in IPv6 testbed 3ffe:: in 2003.

Currently i am also a founder for Awesell which i had built the Web App, API and Mobile Apps (iOS and Android) in React Native.

AAA and security wise i have the knowledge from S/Key, Kerberos, RADIUS and LDAP.

Deployment wise i had worked with Terraform and Ansible and with my past knowledge about systems it would be easy to adapt to work on k8s. (I have custom docker images in dockerhub)

So i have the breadth of working on different technologies and i hope to contribute more with my wealth of experience for my future employer.

22 years in managing systems and networks, 9 years in software development and can work in many parts of the stack. Comfortable with building software from the source code (eg. Linux kernel/BSD make world) including customising the System.

Used Linux since 1997 and BSD user since 1999. Can work on Solaris if needed.

Software dev. Mostly Rails for building backend prototypes, Golang when performance is concerned (and had to build out microservices), python for occasional data scraping or creating reports and PHP which is common for webapps. For many years worked on MySQL and PostgreSQL, however, i use SQLite for local dev and 1 year using MSSQL for a legacy coldfusion application.

I am also capable on hardware (mostly Raspberry PI and Industrial PCs, for cross compiling over drivers and kernels)

Also have built Mobile apps using React Native (Android and iOS) with Rails API Backend.

    Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.awesell.mo... iOS: https://apps.apple.com/my/app/awesell/id1273551487

Currently looking for DevOps or Backend Engineer role but i can work in different parts of the stack.
