  1. I’ve looked at jj, but couldn’t make sense of the proposed benefits. I always stage individual files and never the entire working directory, so I’m confused how it improves that over git.
  2. > An IndyCar is heavier than a Formula 1 car: while a Formula 1 car weighs 1759 pounds / 798 kg including the driver, an IndyCar weighs 1700 pounds / 771 kg on road and street courses, excluding the driver.

    This seems to contradict itself.

  3. How are all these chat app funded?
  4. Isn’t idea of insurance at odds with the idea of a pre-existing condition? Like car insurance is a hedge against a crash. We don’t let people buy it after totaling their car.

We really need an alternative system to cover pre-existing and not force it into insurance.

  5. I suppose they could take their enterprises with them. Removing jobs and taxes from the local economy.
  6. I love the idea of this. Keep perfectly working things from being made obsolete artificially. They should look at the old Nest Protect next.
  7. > At its core, Omarchy embraces Linux . . . makes a version of it that is accessible and fun to use for developers that don’t have a deep background in operating systems.
  8. Maybe one company should not be able to decide which browsers we are allowed to use.
  9. The zoomed in view is great if you’re commonly examining under magnification, but perhaps a slightly less zoomed view (or ability to switch between each) might make this more practical for common folks.
  10. We are are migrating back to Docker org-wide after 5 months on Podman.
  11. Insane that their official docs suggest running some Xcode project to start your VM. It seems like such a powerful feature might have a better UI.
  12. I actually don’t want the Windows aesthetic, but for my older family members, I recommend Linux Mint. For those more technical who still prefer a Windows-like UX, stock Ubuntu with ArcMenu w/ Eleven layout and Dash to Panel with Windows 11 Theme & Icon pack.
  13. I don’t think we need a study to understand that someone who always gets everything they want is usually a spoiled brat.
  14. They had electronics and legos, not just models and hot wheels. I think they’d have adapted like most businesses have.
  15. Low carb has been a “trend” for 20+ years with the Atkins Diet and keto for over 10 years now (although it’s from the 1920s).
  16. I run Windows daily at work on a 60Hz display. I recently got my son a gaming PC complete with a 144Hz monitor. I was genuinely confused why Windows itself “felt” so much better. Just dragging windows around seemed like magic. It’s not that the UI is lagging on my machine, it’s more the smoothness of things when they move around. It makes everything seem faster, despite us timing various things and finding no actual performance differences.
  17. + $4,000 to bump to 512GB from 96GB.
  18. I had no idea Nord offered that and we’ve used them for years.
  19. It literally says, “...anyone can RSVP, regardless of whether they have an Apple Account or Apple device.”
  20. This might underestimate Apple consumerism (I include myself in that).
  21. > “However, it is important to note that this does not impact our results,” Liu told National Post. “The levels of flame retardants that we found in black plastic household items are still of high concern, and our recommendations remain the same.”
  22. Thanks for this! I have used macOS for ten years now and somehow I was unaware of this. This is such a useful feature, it’s a shame it’s not better documented.
  23. QuickTime? The video stuff from Apple?
  24. Is there a way to turn this off entirely? Something like <html autocomplete=“off”>? It’s rather annoying to have 1Password trying to fill my contact info into any form with a Name input. For example, Forum Name, Todo Name, etc.
  25. It works well enough that I have Visual Studio running without issue. However, no one has been able to get SQL Server running.
  26. They’ve done a great job getting people to accept the premise that your phone/iPad is somehow not a computer. Like Final Cut for iPad is a rental (aka subscription) while you can actually buy it Mac.
