Mostly writing stuff, considering careers outside of technology as AI slop takes over.
- mattlBandwidth isn’t free of charge
- But it needs a server too?
- So should those users switch to a Mac or something else?
- I'm starting to see more and more sites want to block them too.
- You have to use Discord to login?

* Navigation (in some countries and regions1) –– choose another app instead of the Apple Maps app to use when opening links for a location
I don't have this option in the US.
- IRC/Mastodon
- Firefox is still there, but Mozilla is adding AI slop to it too. I’d love to see an extension to disable all that stuff, or ideally get rid of it and make it an extension
- Check your luggage for fries
- Yes it makes very little difference if I can see all your public published blog posts on a WordPress site by iterating the number.
- Make it so they have to change it when they login. But also do not allow a simple password to be used ever.
- Ha! I’m sure I asked you about this before but I think you hinted at one point about being able to supply PD on a format other than disc and I think you said not on cassette. What was that?
- CPC?
- If you haven’t yet i recommend their family plan. 5 accounts for less than the price of 2.
This made sense for me as two of my family are already using it.
- For standard email, fastmail.com is very very good. Plus they're working on JMAP, which may actually improve standard email for everyone.
If you're okay with a non-standard email account that you need to use their app for, hey.com has been a game changer for me. Being able to handle the flood of incoming messages that comes from having an email address for 35 years.
- They're not even trying to make a browser it seems.
- I don't understand how anyone doing open source can use something trained on other people's code as a tool for contributions.
I wouldn't accept someone's copy and pasted code from another project if it were under an incompatible license, let alone something with unknown origin.
- Can you tell me the user agent string for the browser? https://whatmyuseragent.com
- Previously GitLab self hosted, then GitHub... now I'm bringing it all under something I host again, so I can block AI bots.
- I don’t remember the last time I deleted an email. I’ve marked things as spam, archived things but not deleted in a long while.
