  1. that 3rd pic could be a black metal album cover
  2. 100% this. I got MLB.tv free via T-mobile. It's not even worth the effort to figure out how to VPN out my AppleTV. I've watched 1 Mariners game this year, and it was because it was on Apple's Friday Night series.

Whaddya know, make it easy to consume content, and people consume it.

  3. And I'm sure if they posted it anyway, those owners would be findable or reanimated pretty quick :)
  4. bit weird. I think some people hate short form writing, like my "btw" could've come across bad to them. Like redditors and raging against emoji
  5. Yea, I getcha. I wonder how much repair-ability limited the design. Chunkier components is probably much easier for the common person to repair. I wouldn't want to open up my iPhone or Switch as an example, but feel like I'd be super comfortable taking apart the Deck.
  6. what's wrong with the design? That link looks sketchy, btw.
  7. guessing it's a "you get what you pay for" situation -- outsourcing or interns.
  8. Can you link the book? I guess I ran out of "free" new yorker articles
  9. Mazda tried and failed, and decided to release it anyway -- see the MX-30 EV. 100 mile estimated range for $34k.
  10. as an alternative to Tesla, I recommend a Polestar 2. Somewhere between a 3 and a Y. Way better build quality (it's basically a Volvo, after all).
  11. hey, this just screams "written by ChatGPT." True or no?
  12. To play devil's advocate, I frequently see people throw software and automation at problems that could've been solved with a system/design change. "We make 20 of these widgets a day, they take too long to make, let's automate it!" Unfortunately the first questions aren't always "why do we make these widgets?" or "do we have to?"

Lots of out of touch leadership types automate away system design flaws IME. Rather than automating for speed or consistency.

  13. based on headlines, it looks like they've been working all weekend
  14. oh Brex just announced $2.25M FDIC insurance.
  15. "A real bank" like SVB?
  16. their sweep accounts are FDIC insured up to $1m. So like mutant said, if you open an account with both, you're possibly insured up to $2m
  17. Darn, I can't find it. There's a guy who claims his only form of workout is just moving a massive pile of dirt back and forth in his yard. Significant because he's a pro athlete of some sort but I forget what he does -- NFL, UFC, strongman...

One day I'll stumble upon it again and come back here and share. Just thought it was funny to compare it to shoveling dirt when that's actually what an elite athlete does somewhere out in the world lol

  18. lots of speculation on how to pronounce this Four Tet side project:

    ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞_༎ຶ_༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ_ꉺლ https://www.discogs.com/artist/6400214-%EA%89%BA%E1%83%9A%E0...

  19. Personally I've never run into this but -- a long queue would be fine, the car doesn't eat up much electricity idling. As for charger status, I mostly use the Electrify America app for finding a charging station (i get 2 years free with my car) and it's good for showing charger count and availability. So, if a charger was out of commission, it would just show 3/4 available.

Google maps will actually show similar availability of various other company stations.

  20. I think it's more of the stoic "memento mori" intention. Make sure your time is well spent.
  21. kinda crazy, i was looking for a previous discussion on this article just last night.
  22. i imagine hot shower also worse for your skin
  23. since you're interested, may i present my childhood illness?

  24. he labeled your talking points as right-wing. And he'd be correct. Your thoughts are not your own.
  25. > A lean Montrealer, with a gentle yet poised intensity that one might classify as medium-energy, Picard came at the question of vim and vigor from a near-cosmic vantage. His office, high above the Heights, had a commanding view down the Hudson, a receding sun-blanched shorescape of skyscrapers and tidal swirl that lent his pronouncements an oracular air.

Did this assignment have a minimum word count? I know it's the New Yorker, but gah I couldn't handle it

  26. Depends on your goals. I personally prefer weight-lifting and think it's a bit easier to do when I'm low energy/don't feel like doing it. But thankfully is easy to snowball and keep up the momentum because the progress is quite obvious (looking better, feeling better, slapping more plates on the bar).
  27. ugh, just remembered that this was kinda used against me as an internal candidate. I read about the new law and decided to exercise my rights. Turns out senior leadership in my department thought I might sue based and saw it as info gathering for that...
