  1. You mean like GDPR but stronger?
  2. This is actually quite interesting. I ran into Stefan Ingves on the street in Stockholm, the former Governor of the Swedish Riksbank, and asked him why the Swedish inflation calculations did not include housing prices.

The short answer is that they're waiting on a harmonised EU wide system for that will include housing in some measure, but that has been taking longer than expected and they didn't want to change the system in Sweden before the new system was finished...

Quite frustrating given the massive increase in housing prices since '08. Would probably have been much lower with a higher interest rate.

  3. It's actually a quite good idea: https://www.single.earth
  4. Thank you for doing it! We’ve been subscribers for a while now and it’s great.
  5. I don’t know, we all owe Germany quite a bit for their solar subsidies.
  6. Love Dependabot! Worth every penny.

Happy you can work on it full time.

  7. And you think moving to Japan will alleviate that?
  8. As a somewhat frustrated user I can't understand the design decision Crashlytics did that they won't notify you of crashes unless they have a matching dSYM.

I've tried to explain why this complicates the use case for Bitcode enabled apps but so far I've only gotten a shrug back. Their stance is that everyone should check the dashboard daily and see the badge indicating that there's a dSYM missing.

  9. I don't think that she would refer to herself as an engineer, but more as an enthusiast. Nothing to do with sexism but more that she's not that interested in working with engineery stuff like reliability, fault tolerances etc.

She didn't graduate from KTH since "Teknisk Fysik" wasn't her thing and to be honest I don't think that it would've made any difference. I would say that she's doing quite ok. :)

  10. I don't know, during the last decade we've had billion dollar tech companies such as Spotify, King and Klarna come out of Stockholm which isn't the largest hub in Europe.
  11. IANAL but it seems that Sweden has agreements with certain countries to enable questioning of someone who's not in the country. When it comes to EU states it's pretty straight forward.

One thing that would complicate this matter is that there doesn't seem to be an agreement between Ecuador and Sweden regarding this. Given that JA was under Ecuadorian jurisdiction it's entirely possible that this was one of the reasons why the prosecutor didn't go down that route initially.

We recently launched a free flashcards app on the Mac App Store called PAL: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pal-flashcards/id1187236321?...

    It's also available on https://www.pal9000.com

We've tried keeping it as simple as possible which a fair number of people seem to like. :)

  13. Yahoo had a negative valuation if you removed their stake in Alibaba.
  14. And I'm saying that there are people not inside your car that cares about how you're driving. Most of Uber's rides are in densely populated areas with plenty of other drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
  15. Even if it's safe (measured by say accidents) aggressive driving still causes problems for pedestrians and other drivers.
  16. Seems like AT&T are increasing the caps and adding the option to have an "unlimited" version: http://arstechnica.com/business/2016/03/att-boosts-data-caps...
  17. This is a great argument, but I suspect that we'll see a similar pattern as we did with processing power: We got to the point where we really didn't need more horsepower and could focus on other things, such as energy efficiency.

That won't happen at the same time everywhere but where I'm from it's almost here already. Every apartment in the city either has fiber or really fast cable, it's cheap and the limitations are so high that you really have to try hard to run into them. For mobile data you can get 4G with 20+ gigs per month for less than $20.

  18. Isn't fiber being rolled out across the US?
  19. I disagree, it's a very valid assumption to make given that mobile data quotas are increasing and metered broadband connections are most likely going to be a thing of the past.

Edit: Also, Apples targets the premium segment of the market. Who are less likely to have such limitations.

  20. Not really, market value requires a buyer too.

  22. As other commenters has said, fundraising is never easy no matter where you are.

There's plenty of super early stage money you can get (i.e. up to $100k) from government grants etc. so that part isn't that hard.

What's lacking in Stockholm is a strong angel scene, and what's especially lacking are larger angel investors that does investments of $100k-$500k. I.e. investments that are too small for a fund, but a bit too large for someone that just does investments as a hobby.

However, one of the things I'm doing right now is helping some of the local venture funds and some UK based ones to scout for investments, and the perspective from the other side of the table is that there's currently a shortage of fundable projects that are raising $500k-$2m. Also there's a new monster fund being announced soon. Rumours on the street (i.e. drunk people at startup events who let their mouths slip) is that it's going to be the largest first time fund globally so the competition among VCs for investments in that size will increase.

If you are doing something interesting but lack connections to VCs or angels, ping me (email in bio) and I'd be more than happy to make introductions.

  23. I'm not sure you can count what you get after taxes as salary, your personal taxes is normally considered part of your salary.

The "arbetsgivaravgift" (i.e. taxes that your employer pays) is about 30% of your salary, so if you're going to get a salary of 100 that costs your employer about 130. The cash you get in hand varies depending on your personal tax rate, but normally you would receive between 50 and 70.

Edit: This is for Sweden. YMMV. :)

  24. Wouldn't that be good though? Then he's free to buy property and other things with his "laundered" money if he's cleared from any wrongdoing.

It's not that easy to convert a large amount of bitcoins into money that you can use effectively.
