- I just can't understand why Microsoft can just remove all this shit from windows 11. Guys we don't want adds, one drive and all that crap I know you make money on it but let people come to it naturally when it's forced it turns us a way. I keep hearing stories of entire medical offices, small businesses going mac/linux for the sake of not being forced to candy crush it up.
- I think the main problem with looking and identifying ghost jobs is that we categorize them wrong when measuring the economy and "the number of jobs out there" we need a mechanism where a place reports to the government what they actually need for headcount. Maybe they need to do some sort of weighted average of number of job openings vs EDITBA or something.
- I just get a sense from all this AI marketing hype is that AI is yet another grifter tool. The Ubuntu video was meh and I dont think it worked well to describe the story. A better video would be to show perhaps someone getting their kid an ubuntu laptop and how it shaped their mindset and future. Or Ubuntu on your grandma's computer and now we can enjoy coffee instead of fixing computers... etc etc.
- I feel the ads I've seen are precisely what you say. I will say this though I have a kid on the spectrum and if I could teach her how to integrate her thoughts with the glasses it may help her in social settings. But for others who simply already know I, like you, don't see the value.
- Dropbox my one critique is can you please make it affordable again. I just can't justify the cost as there are cheaper services out there. I don't care about PDF signing etc. I fear OneDrive/Google Drive are eating you lunch because it's a hard sell to be competitive against them price wise.
- I wonder when the iphone 21+ comes out what are we going to call these things? And will they still use software services like AI to differentiate? I mean let's be real they could totally offload AI stuff to the cloud and keep it somewhat 'private' I fear apple is using AI as a way to sell hardware when really it's the same thing with a little more RAM.
- Eh IMO how is it any worse than a video arcade? I really think that's all Roblox is an arcade. Yeah it's the experience is fleeing and ephemeral. But these kids are hopefully experiencing what I felt in my childhood that I can't achieve anymore. I probably dumped 60$ alone over months going to Pizza Inn trying to win at Mortal Kombat.
- Probably not going to see this comment but if so can you answer these questions. Have you shopped around for an alternative? Do you guy shave complicated stuff like tailing an origin of an order back to a specific sales person? Do you need 3 way matching? Do your customers prefer using an ERP you're always working with? What are the things holding you up your execution?
On the ERP stuff I've done a lot and it's usually the reason stuff gets buggy and 'hard'. Stuff like say realistically you have to complete an order of say 10 linear feet of rope but it comes in packs of 6 so they have to order 2 but the sales rep said they'd sell the remainder on another work order etc etc.
The ERP you might have one guy that's on oracle, another on something custom, and these systems all interface differently.
Another is in the quoting process if you are making quotes that are timely or have an expiration. Some things just take a lot of foresight when you set out to make them.
- I wanted the new apple pencil pro but it only works on the new ipads :( I have the m2 ipad pro. Literally there's no need but I love to draw on mine and that pencil with the accelerometer and gyroscope sounds amazing in procreate. I think we'll start seeing artwork where you can see the difference in brush work.
- Back in the day I had a script that would telnet once every so often to a configured time frame and listen on each one. Then another script monitoring the number of each and if the average over 10 mins was less than 90% each node send a message in your manner of choice (email or something)
- The joke, what do you have when you have a group of lawyers up to their necks in dog shit? Not enough dog shit...
It's just so insane how fast lawyers can bring the image, will and industry at large to it's knees. I think Apple's legal team should really take a hint (and a hit) from all of us in this industry. You're hurting Apple and the entire dev community more than you're helping.
