- They have it right. Goals are short term, jobs are ephemeral. Hell, maybe careers are ephemeral now as well.
If the individual's focus is on short term income or career growth, then they align with the company's goals.
Solid engineering practices and product quality don't matter anymore (except in FOSS), and will likely be viewed as antagonistic to the KPIs, OKRs, or whatever metrics measure what is considered success.
Stated as someone who has been in various forms of IT since 1985, and has experienced most of software engineering turned into an MBA value extraction mindset. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

- Mawk can be significantly faster than Gawk.
Not sure if it beats sed, but when I need speed and can work within the subset of GNU Awk, Mawk is often fast enough.
- PostgreSQL and DuckDB support this, which makes MSSQL feel like a dinosaur in context.

If you have to explain that distinction, are you really speaking to an "enterprise architect" ?
- This is willful ignorance, targeting a political issue which has nothing to do with health.
- To the issue of complexity, is Redpanda suitable as a "single node implementation" where a Kafka cluster is not needed due to data volume, but the Kafka message bus pattern is desired?

- It is sad, but not surprising, that the primary driver behind AI is the "Do everything as cheap as possible" mindset - not for innovation, especially not for quality.

- IF this data center growth is largely rooted in AI _speculation_, and that gamble does not pay off, what sort of market crash or bubble pop occurs?
