  1. I find this fun and whimsical, but surely it’s an accessibility nightmare.
  2. Yes, the hydration behavior of custom elements is nice. You don’t even need to do anything special with JS bundle loading.

Simply render your <element> (server-side is fine) and whenever the JavaScript downloads and executes your custom elements will mount and do their thing.

  3. I love the transaction history in YNAB. I refer to it all the time.
  4. Costco membership is more like voluntarily accepting cookies.

Even more than that, it’s purchasing a membership that requires authentication when you use the store.

  5. Crazy. I switch between my work’s M4 MacBook Pro and my personal M3 MacBook Air all the time and I forget that the displays are even different.
  6. I can’t imagine not rinsing after brushing, with your mouth full of toothpaste
  7. You need to configure it for static export if that’s what you want: https://nextjs.org/docs/app/guides/static-exports

But this won’t support all framework features. The default expectation for Next.js is with a server runtime for SSR.

  8. They should just do something like have parental controls that can configure the user agent with the user’s age, and require adult websites to not serve underage users.

It wouldn’t deter kids if you want to let them have unsupervised root access to a computer (like I enjoyed when I was 12), but I think it would be fairly effective for a walled garden like an iPhone

  9. It’s been a long time since I used it but an iOS subsonic client I used to use (I think it was iSub) had better local-first / offline behavior than Apple Music or Spotify.
  10. I think this would be pretty trivial to fix zed’s autoformatter settings.
  11. Interesting

When they say iCloud passwords, do they mean

    * iCloud passwords extension in chrome?

    * safari?

    * iOS safari?

iOS safari in particular seems to use native OS UI separate from the web page for password form auto completion, I would think it wouldn’t be susceptible?

And what about google chrome’s built in PW manager?

  12. The one thing I always missed about Windows was foobar2k
  13. I have had an advantage, advantage pro, advantage 2, and an advantage 360 pro.

The 360 comes close but it’s a miss for me. I really don’t like the omission of the function keys, and the switches feel muddied compared to the ones on the previous advantage keyboards.

If they fixed those two things and added another 1-2 keys to the thumb cluster, I think that would be the ultimate keyboard for me.

  14. I am a big fan of the kinesis advantage keyboards but I really do wish they had an extra thumb key so you could have cmd, ctrl, and option keys on both sides.
  15. Even if you use the Astro view transitions API to make a SPA, its client side router falls short of other frameworks that are more truly SPA oriented.
  16. In this scenario I prefer to do an interactive rebase (with -i flag) and drop all of the commits that were on branch A.

This is basically exactly the same as checking out a fresh branch from main and cherry picking the commits from branch B.

  17. I prefer to update my branch with rebase, and merge it with a squashed merge.
  18. Even a broken clock is right twice a day
  19. I actually did click through the links to find those, and I was annoyed that I had to do that instead of having at least one rendered inline in the article.

It even has some examples of other size images inline, but none of the titular 88x31 buttons. I found it odd.

  20. Why are there zero examples of 88x31 buttons in this article?
  21. Is there support for Rekordbox?

It would be awesome so that you can use Apple Music alongside normal USB sticks / Rekordbox libraries on the Pioneer XDJ line of equipment.

  22. Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are basically the same car. The car was designed by Toyota while Subaru supplied the engine. Just one example.
  23. Surely it’s a balance but I feel like relentless drive and focus might even be a little more important than raw intellectual ability.
  24. Were you on a VPN?
  25. Yeah, good timing. Just about a year before the release of ChatGPT.
  26. I think a confounding variable is that SF also significantly reduced jail sentencing and prosecution of other types of crime during the pandemic.
  27. This poem has always made me think of the contemplation of death or suicide, but “call of the void” is a much better way of putting it.
  28. Could you substantiate that?
  29. What’s the CTO’s motivation for migrating off of Next.js? And to what?
  30. This is what Next.js does.
