I run a small online advertising agency at AdsByJustin.com
- justinbaker84 parentI was thinking the same thing.
- Microsoft is saying they have a 27% stake in the company after this deal closes.
- Just read it when it is done writing it.
- I don't understand why more people don't talk about how fast the models are. I see so much obsession with bechmark scores but speed of response is very important for day to day use.
I agree that the models from OpenAI and Google have much slower responses than the models from Anthropic. That makes a lot of them not practical for me.
- I feel like if I just do a better job of providing context and breaking complex tasks into a series of simple tasks then most of the models are good enough for me to code.
- I am a professional developer so I don't care about the costs. I would be willing to pay more for 4.5 Haiku vs 4.5 Sonnet because the speed is so valuable.
I spend way to much time waiting for the cutting edge models to return a response. 73% on SWE Bench is plenty good enough for me.
- I am very excited about this. I am a freelance developer and getting responses 3x faster is totally worth the slightly reduced capability.
I expect I will be a lot more productive using this instead of claude 4.5 which has been my daily driver LLM since it came out.
- The people who succeed the most with fraud are those who tell lies that people want to believe. A LOT of people wanted to believe that there could be a second electric car company and that they could get rich off it. That is why the fraud worked so well.
- I predict a false flag cyber attack on the US that is supposed to whip us into a frenzy for war in Iran.
- Can confirm. One of my best friends is a senior engineer at thomson reuters and they are focused on that.
- It is dissapointing to see how frequently VCs invest hundreds of millions of dollars into fraudulent companies. This is very different from investing in legit companies that don't work.
It often seems like you are more likely to raise VC by being a fraud than by being a responsible person who wants to do something positive in this world.
- I have been very brand loyal to claude also but the new gemini model is amazing and I have been using it exclusively for all of my coding for the last week.
I am excited to try out this new model. I actually want to stay brand loyal to antropic because I like the people and the values they express.
- I worked at a startup where I joined as the second employee before they raised any money and I basically got 0.5% of the company. They went on to raise over $100 million in VC.
I got $0 for my equity. Start ups have SO many ways to screw employees out of their equity.
The most basic is that you have options that you are not allowed to sell during equity rounds. If you accept them then you need to pay the strike price and they count as taxable income even though you got shares instead of money so you just lose a lot of money.
Say what you will about Elon, but at Space X employees are allowed to sell their shares for actual money at regular intervals. Very few start ups that succeed allow their employees to do that.
90% of startups that succeed just want to grind down their employees rather than pay them the equity they earned.
- This is the main point I always want to communicate to the teams building foundation models.
A lot of people just want the ability to pay more in order to get more.
I would gladly pay 10x more to get relatively modest increases in performance. That is how important the intelligence is.
- I have been thinking the same thing. The only other thing they do is take positions they think will increase their popularity with their audience.
- I think that is the case with Sam, but not Ilya and probably not with some of the other founders.
- I have had a similar experience. I build wordpress websites and ChatGPT has allowed me to extend their functionality a great deal without needing to learn how to code PHP.
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Remote: Yes Willing to relocate: No Technologies: Google Ads Résumé/CV: I am a freelance digital marketer. I spend 90% of my time helping small and medium businesses with their google ads. I am really good at it because I focus on just that one thing. I think you need to focus on just one thing to really master it. You can learn more about me at AdsByJustin.com. Email: justin@adsbyjustin.com- I agree with everything you are saying, but the stock price is up 6x over the last 10 years and revenue is still growing 13% a year so nobody at google is going to listen to any of this.
Basically ad dollars have continued to transition from old media to digital media over the last decade+ and that mass migration has created enough revenue to cover up all of Google's core problems.
- The shares they own give them 51% of the votes because when they negotiated a deal that gives them a lot more votes than anybody else. They own about 12% of the company.
Those numbers are for both of them combined. If one of them had a serious disagreement with the other they could join forces with other shareholders to create a new 51% majority.
- I have been self employed for 10 years now. I manage Google Ads for small and medium businesses.
I still have the desire to create a great start up, but at least this way I can pay the bills and have more free time to work on start up ideas.
- I am an american with libertarian/conservative political views and I rarely see outward political bias toward the left on the articles I visit. I think it happens on contentious issues but it is really mild compared to every other media outlet.
- That is exactly what I see most of the time in high quality discourse around current events. People pick the items they want to emphasize or de-emphasize and that is what creates different narratives.
- Usually when I get the spam you are describing sent to my gmail account it looks like some spammer managed to send obvious spam messages from a server on an authoritative domain like a university.
- I agree that this is the best possible solution in the american healthcare system for any chronic issues.
For accute issues like getting in a car accident going through the established system is still the best option.
- They also hate talking to people who manage $200K per month advertising budgets. Even at that level advertisers just get very low wage support staff in India who can't do much.
- A lot of clinics are administering the generic form and it is still very expensive.
- I took it and started out with a small dose. The impact of that dose wore off eventually and the plan at my clinic was to raise it over time.
I am concerned that maybe there isn't a dose where you can stop taking more and keep the results. I am worried that everybody will need to keep taking more as they build up more tolerance to it. The study that showed how effective the drug is was 60 weeks long.
That is a long time, but it doesn't show what happens if somebody plans on staying on the drug for years.
- That is not what happened to me. I took it for 2 months and then I wanted to get off. I did not go back to normal. Mentally I felt like I needed more food and more junk food than I ever did before using the drug.
My hypothesis is that it supressed my body's natural production of whatever chemical in my brain helps me not go overboard with food. With that supressed by the drug I had an uncontrollable desire for food and currently I am fatter than I was before taking the drug in the first place.
