  1. If you are capable of being a leonardo, then this approach will work.

Not everyone is capable of being Leonardo

  2. Whenever anyone invokes ‘won’t somebody think of the children’ it’s almost always an attack on freedom somehow. In this case freedom of speech and anonymity.

If you need kids to verify their age, well they’re going to have to verify the adults too aren’t they.

Which is what they really want.

It isn’t the state’s job to police children - parents should do this. They should just mandate very good easy to use parental controls on devices and spend some money teaching parents how to use them.

  3. Was wondering how Workday a managed to sponsor so much stuff
  4. I’m so glad other people are having this problem too. The keyboard is just so bad now.

The autocorrect does help sometimes. But it fucks things up that were previously fine just as much as it helps so overall it’s probably worse than it used to be. Now You need to constantly monitor every key pressed to make sure it hasn’t screed it up later.

  5. Excited to try this. I’ve found Gemini excellent recently and amazing at coding. But I still feel somehow like ChatGPT understands more. Even though it’s not quite as good at coding - and nowhere at as fast. It is much less likely anti spontaneously forget something. Gemini’s is part unbelievably amazing and part amnesia patient. I still kinda trust ChatGPT more.
  6. How can a betting a syndicate make 600 million a year in winnings? Is that only possible with some level of fixing?
  7. Don get me wrong, doing 80% of my work for me is still great. And I’m actually quite glad I’m still needed for the other 20%
  8. This should be the strap line for all AI (so far)
  9. I’m curious if this makes them more or less susceptible to prompt injection?

On the one hand can learning on the job allow better training of what not to be influenced by, but on the other hand can an injected prompt have an even deeper effect on them long term.

  10. Britain was still literally an empire at this point, currently colonising India and many other places.

You can say they should fight the nazis anyway but making the argument that they should do this because Britain weren’t colonisers doesn’t make sense.

  11. I specifically have issues with strong back lighting (genetic cataracts suck - I’m only in my 40s) so bright white page and light writing is super frustrating. Dark mode is my best friend.
  12. Google really are a fully woken sleeping giant. More code reds being issued today I expect.
  13. I wish website designers would remember that not everyone can see great. This text is so fine and light and they’ve also disabled screen reader
  14. The air Canada chatbot that mistakenly told someone they can cancel and be refunded for a flight due to a bereavement is a good example of this. It went to court and they had to honour the chatbot’s response.

It’s quite funny that a chatbot has more humanity than its corporate human masters.

  15. Fonts are an absolute joke. Foundries must be run by the mafia at this point.
  16. Either...

Better (UX / ease of use)

Lock in (walled garden type thing)

Trust (If an AI is gonna have the level of insight into your personal data and control over your life, a lot of people will prefer to use a household name)

  17. Apple need India though. They’re moving a lot of their manufacturing there to derisk from a China.

Also, they gave in to the CCP and always say ‘we obey the laws of the countries in which we operate’.

Apple is, at the end of the day, just a business.

  18. But but but they ‘have a limited budget’ (repeated multiple times for effect in the article)
  19. It’s just about incompetence really. The budget is meant to be highly secret. And they accidentally published their report early. Which would let some people benefit from in financially, but it’s also just very embarrassing for a government. Sometimes budgets contain info that is more valuable than this.
  20. Turn out, no. Not they would not.
