  1. I still think nVidia has the most to loose in the AI race, optimisations like this will continue coupled with better ASIC's.
  2. its insane to me that apple could feature "liquid glass"... the amount of devs that must of worked on this is probably not insignificant and could have been used on better things...
  3. Didnt vista try and do a similar thing when it came out, lots of "widgets" and transparency crap that felt cool then tacky after 2 minutes...
  4. Gemma3 is pretty useful on a long haul flight without internet
  5. More ads and a huge push towards shorts, which is really annoying
  6. Youtube has gotten so much worse in the last 6 months tho, introduction of shorts has devalued the platform terribly and it seems like all the good educational creators are moving off it anyway and now its just ripped crap that is often AI produced. Hopefully this move makes some actual competition show up for Youtube, because it sorely needs it.
  7. Is mechanics of enforcement really a government thing tho?
  8. Democracy is broken… its so hard to tell who did this.
  9. what model do you use with cline?
  10. Taking individuals circumstances into account isn't evidence based medicine though...
  11. Because evidence based medicine is often about broader problems, medicine 3.0 is about solving problems for a specific person. It could be a rare type of cancer that a specific treatment has been crafted for that person - in this case theres no evidence to say that exact treatment works, maybe the over arching therapy is backed by evidence but it feels like a trend away from needing strong evidence to back the application of the therapy.
  12. If you think about it, Evidence Based Medicine is very much against Medicine 3.0 whereby individualized treatments/therapies are used.
  13. I found it a bit concerning that this doesnt talk about safe dosages of any of the heavy metals.
  14. Arent all humans different and therefore N=1 actually ok in this scenario??
  15. What is tf2 classic?
  16. I feel like these guys are missing a pretty important point in their own analysis. I tried setting up a ollama LLM on a fly.io GPU machine and it was near impossible because of fly.io limitations such as: 1. Their infrastructure doesnt support streaming responses well at all (which is important part of the LLM experience in my view) 2. The LLM itself is massive, and cant be part of the docker image I was building and uploading. Fly doesnt have a nice way around this, so I had to setup a whole heap of code to pull it in on the fly machines first invocation, which doesnt work well if you start to run multiple machines. It was messy and ended up with a long support ticket with them that didnt get it working any better so I gave up.
  17. The big mistake here is ownership of your apple devices is an illusion...
  18. Quick someone tag linus in here so he can do a review and claim 20% performance increase \s
  19. Considering you need an Apple ID to log into the hardware, id argue Apple gatekeeps that ownership pretty tightly.
  20. How do you legitimately buy books on it?
  21. I wont cling to older hardware if apple gives me a new mac for free or just invests money in supporting it for longer. The hardware is “fine” and should keep getting updates.
  22. I hate this tho… its easy to quantify bad dental health. But way hard to say what good is.
  23. This proves southpark was right, science is just another form of religion.
  24. Ive given up on phind. The company seems like a bit of a dodgy black hole in terms of what they do with information (the answer is - i dont know, but i requested to try find out so my company could use them and got no reply). Seems untrustworthy…
  25. How does Haiku do with instruction following?
  26. The biggest trick here is going to be costs. I have gotten scary openai bills feeding websites into gpt-4 due to cost scaling with content size.
  27. Im more thinking about the training side because it could be compelling to buy a beefily specced m3 max if it can replace what a dedicated gpu rig could do and also be a daily driver.
  28. Are m1/m2/m3 max mac's any good for this?
  29. Sounds not true because Buffet has specifically said not to diversify in shareholder updates.
