  1. I loathe whenever an older family member ends up at the TV menu, since chances are they will not be able to find their way back to whatever external device they were trying to use the TV as a monitor for. TVs using android seem to be irritated that you even plan on using some external device plugged into the HDMI ports.
  2. Every one of them will also be tripping over each other to try and push their software as the solution to any and every problem. I'd wager a hefty sum that at the end of the day every US government department is going to have it's own unique software stack that will be ill-suited for their needs, incompatible with what adjacent departments use, and offer no robustness in the event of an emergency.
  3. The subversion of tropes goes back all the way to the original Mobile Suit Gundam, though a little more subtle due to the studio wanting to make a show to sell toys and the director wanting to make something with a actual message. It has: -a 'good army' that could easily be the 'bad army' in a more optimistic show -the protagonists dealing with callus military leadership -sympathetic enemy soldiers dealing with their own incompetent and callus leadership -the war taking a huge psychological toll on the protagonist and all of them end up worse off for having been a part of it
  4. In my experience part of the 'frictionless' experience is also to provide minimal information about any issues and no way to troubleshoot. Everything works until it doesn't, and when it doesn't you are now at the mercy of the customer support que and getting an agent with the ability to fix your problem.
  5. Elden Ring: Nightreign is also a co-op PvE game that has anti-cheating in it. The most common way people cheat is by fudging then items equipped to their character that slightly alter their stats and abilities. Since the game is rouge-like and all of your character information and equipment you can assign before entering the game is handled locally then all it takes is editing your save file which the game and server have no way of (or makes no effort to) detect.

Also, after a brief period, all of the cheaters disappeared because just repeatedly winning a PvE game get boring.

  6. I'm always amazed at how needlessly complicated and useless administration of Microsoft products and services are. So much of 365 feels like it is 75-90% completed then abandoned. Every time I find something that sounds like it should be really useful, it turns out to lack at least one function or feature needed to do what I would need it to.
  7. It's definitely one of those pieces of media that is extremely frustrating because of how close it came to being an all-time great adaptation. Moffat needed somebody in the writers room with him to tell him 'no' sometimes.
  8. BBC Sherlock also slowly morphed him into a less empathic version of the Doctor from Doctor Who.
  9. Dolphin has some absolutely fascinating right ups on the lengths they had to go to in order to get Factor 5 games to run. When you're working with a fixed hardware set there are absolutely incredible things you can do to eke out extra performance that will go completely unappreciated until years later when somebody tries to run that software on a emulate hardware.
  10. As a person with social anxiety and a fear of being disliked I get to be the person that people love to talk about how much they hate all of the people that don't fear being disliked and all of the ways they are getting either getting screwed by other people or are being screwed by other people. We really deserve the society we live in
  11. The value is probably all in the licenses that EA has. Why start studios when you only need 3 or 4 to produce yearly updates to Madden, FIFA, NHL, and PGA.
  12. While hitting 100% utilization will probably never happen in any significantly large application, in my experience almost every application has a good 10-30% of it that remains unused because they are extremely unintuitive to anyone who isn't on the development team, has a absolutely awful and inefficient workflow, or is so basic that it would only be of value to companies that would in no way be able to afford that application in the first place.
  13. Plus, because it's harder to just do a job listing and get actual submittals, you're going to see more people hired because who are hired because of who they know not what they know. In other words if you wasted your time in networking class working on networking instead of working on networking then you're screwed
  14. Most likely because America has been in a political dead lock for the last 2 decades. Everything supported by one party is rejected by the other, everything that would benefit one state is a detriment to another, everything that would benefit the masses are extremely rejected by very load minorities. There is a strong man in charge pushing every button to see what happens, in the course of things it will turn out that at least one or two of them were far overdue to be pushed.
  15. This is very true, we are in a better place than the previous generation but there is still room for improve and a over abundance of something can be a problem just as easily as the absence of something.
  16. The dilution by people with no formal diagnosis become more common is scary because of how it normalizes not seeking help, which is the hardest part of actually having these issues. It creates this illusion that one should be able to treat themselves and that things like sitting at your desk all day thinking it wouldn't be that bad if you died in a car accident, or having your heartrate spike and sweating profusely while you thoughts are paralyzed are normal things that happens regularly to everyone so your inability to deal with them is a personal failing. They are not and if you do feel this way try and seek assistance from a experienced professional.
  17. Just constantly repeat 'in-demand' until the dumbest executive at every major company is forcing some LLM product into every part of the operation in order to 'remain competitive'. I've seen first hand how useful AR can be for actually real world work by enhancing a flesh and blood human being's ability to do their job and the best device on the market is still the 6 year old Hololens 2. Microsoft just completely abandoned it in favor of something that most of the time says you the trouble of having to type something into a search bar.
  18. I have been asking myself this question repeatedly for the last few months. Windows 11 offers absolutely nothing of substance over Windows 10 and more often than not manages to be less pleasant to use. The Office 365 eco system is a complete disaster of half implemented ideas, most of which can be described as would be pretty useful if it actually worked as advertised(power automate), wasn't abandoned in a half complete state(loosp), or if they implemented simple feature requests that the userbase is asking for(sharepoint). To top it all off they seem to be working tirelessly to ruin the products that actually work and are in demand, every couple of months they threaten to force users to switch to the 'modern' Outlook despite the fact that it still lacks a lot of features that are the very reason businesses still use Outlook in the first place.
  19. Also you are forced to deal with it one way or another, instead of just dumping it in the atmosphere and washing your hands of it.
  20. Everyone I actually enjoyed following is on there. Someone once posted that the best part of Bluesky is that you scroll until you reach the end of the new posts from users you follow, then once you reach the end of new content you stop and go do something else for a while. Bluesky not attempting to be a infinite dopamine is a feature in the best interest of the users
