  1. Exactly it has more to do with which end of the stick you're on.
  2. This is great. A few years ago, I decided to buy a WII U, since I have basically every Nintendo console system since the NES. But the gamepad screen was broken and I couldn't sync the gamepad to the screen until I fixed it. And I tried to see if there was any alternative, but there wasn't until now. Hopefully that means more WII Us can be saved... You can sometimes find used Wii Us for $30 without the gamepad, while the gamepad itself costs around $100..
  3. Perhaps Trump Jr's Unusual Machines.
  4. Even if US seems like it's acting in bad faith here, I rather the Pope not step into politics of this sort and concentrate more on the religious realm. It seems like the papacy would be stepping backwards if it got more involved in politics/geopolitics again, and not simply looking for peace.
  5. Except for a very important one. Taiwan is not internationally recognized as an independent country by almost all nation-states. And those few that recognize Taiwan (or rather ROC) as a country do not recognize PRC as a country.

You may say that ROC is a de facto separate country, although the constitution doesn't imply necessarily so, but simply that there's a different government.

The fact that the international community and even it's own constitution doesn't recognize it as an independent country shows that it's more than legal fiction and simply that de facto China is still under civil war.

  6. The Malacca Straits not being that wide, would make it easier for China's carrier killer missiles to destroy them.
  7. Huawei at least is giving their source code to be scrutinized. What can be said of other vendors?
  8. Is the per capita still rising rapidly? China's CO2 growth levels have already started leveling off, and actually showed a slight decline as of late.

  9. But commercial jet liners aren't as important to China for security. They have high speed railroads for that.
  10. I'm pretty sure there were children where the parents basically locked them in cages or chained them to a post in the basement, where they had almost no social contact, etc. And in these cases they were considered effectively mentally disabled by the time they were rescued.
  11. It's the opposite here. It's as if the dotcom is investing into Cisco and Sun, so that it can buy servers and routers from them.
  12. No... because the warrants can only be exercised if the share price is at certain points. If AMD goes down, the warrants can't be exercised at all. E.g. we know at least one share price points is when AMD shares are worth $600/share.
  13. They were building new coal plants that were far more efficient, while also closing down extremely old inefficient and dirty coal plants. So overall it was a net gain.
  14. You shouldn't use it to compare other nations, but compare the same nation to it's prior years to see a trend.
  15. Also on Monday, the FDA approved a lesser-known drug, leucovorin, as a treatment for autism, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said during the briefing.
  16. They consider themselves socialist... Communism is their long term idealistic goal.
  17. Are you talking about soma.fm?

  18. Isn't Trump also placing extra charges on Chinese made ships docking at US ports? If they ship to Vancouver, and trains ship the shipping containers to the US, can you avoid this extra fee which is quite expensive at a $1M or so per Chinese made container ship?
  19. Same here. Listening to Sibelius right now using a Marantz 2220b with equally old KLH 6 speakers, and a raspberry pi + dac to use internet radio. Sounds great, and pretty amazed it's still just working even though it's already more than 50+ years old.

The only issue is volume control, due to not having a remote for lazier folk. I can control it digitally but don't like "shaving" off bits to control volume.

  20. A lot of the ghost cities news has been debunked as of late. When the news stories were coming out, a lot of the cities were just recently built. A decade+ later, a lot of the areas have been filled in...

    E.g. this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR4EYQ6JFUI

  21. However the fact that she did protest the war means that she has a potential political asylum case.
  22. AMD's PE ratio looks high because of their Xilinx acquisition and for tax reasons. You have to look at non-GAAP numbers instead, e.g. AMD's forward PE ratio which is only ~20 or so. Nvidia's forward PE is ~30.
  23. Any hopes of this or any other software being able to translate games on the fly. Would be neat to be able to play old games that were never translated.
  24. You have to look at non-gaap numbers, and therefore looking at forward PE ratios is necessary. When you look at that, AMD is cheaper than NVDA. Moreover, the reason why AMD PE ratio looks high is because they bought xilinx, and in order to save on taxes, it makes their PE ratio look really high.
  25. The definition of jurisdiction matters a lot here. But it's hard to explain why it would be that if someone who is here legal or illegal in the US, commits a crime is not subject to the jurisdiction of the US, and therefore should simply go free and be deported as if they were simply a diplomat, with diplomatic immunity...

There's many cases as well like the Gitmo cases that explain what "jurisdiction" means, and it doesn't even simply mean whether or not you are on US soil, but can be subjected to US laws, even when overseas.

  26. It's more a form of protest. There's not even a Western or English version of the app as far as I know.
  27. Part of what constitutes freedom of speech is freedom to hear what someone has to state which is constitutionally protected. The fact that there might be other venues where someone can produce speech, does not mean that the right to hear what someone has to say has not been denied.
