  1. Fear of missing out, network effect, etc.

I personally never opened an account, do remember seeing ex-colleagues exaggerating their job descriptions, titles, etc It looks quite fake to me. But I wonder what could have happened to me if I had an account 10, 15 and 18 years ago.

  2. No, it's different. A "toast" is a floating element, a "push notification" which is detached from the panel, e.g. can disappear quite quickly. The banner is placed closest to the context where the action is triggered, e.g. might require the user to close it. If you have some disability, e.g. cognitive, visual or motor, it's likely to be easier to perceive the information. When a user creates an "issue", the "issue item" is displayed in the list, meaning that you won't need a secondary notification process.
  3. Do you really need React Server Conponents or even Server Side Rendering?
  4. I agree, they seem to have never tried it at all! Bun DX is the best, and Bun is the trend setter. Others are just catching up!
  5. I just can’t…

    Welcome to 2025!

  6. Any project repository where I'm the original author, the default branch is the "develop" branch. Let's move on!
  7. This is hilarious!
  8. Maybe there are people higher up with a lot of money who force these features. At the end of the day, the builders have the obey.
  9. Film is magical. We should preserve and incentivise it.
  10. Is this a durable execution engine/solution?
  11. Interesting that every time Helix comes up, someone just has to mention Neovim. You never see Emacs or Helix users do that the other way around. Almost as if they’re personally offended.
  12. Saw your profile a few months ago and I like it! Quite surprised you’re still looking for an opportunity. Teams generally lack talent like yours. Good luck!
  13. 1) "I even created detailed plans for easy to build features that users requested" 2) "I know exactly what to build and how to build it"

You seem to have a nice specification of what you want to build and how. Unfortunately, you feel burned out. Thus, one option is to try to leverage LLM by feeding your well-defined specifications and then revising them.

I believe this can help you make progress.

  14. Can you share some examples of spam you've been getting?
  15. That's a good idea!

I've been thinking about how they could solve this, since they accept payments; wouldn't it be possible to request a payment with a specific reference code to verify the identity? Paired with any other required identification process, documentation, etc.

  16. There are alarming statistics about phone snatching in London. Plus, we are NOT OUR PHONES. Doesn't GitHub have a way for people to verify and prove somebody's identity? Given that's a fact, isn't it best to disable 2FA and stop recommending it to people?

Following this post, I have reviewed all my main accounts, created recovery codes, set up backups, and added alternative email addresses, among other tasks. Hope for the best.

    Résumé/CV: https://punkbit.com/docs/cv-punkbit-helder-oliveira.20250728...

I'm a Product Engineer and a creative based in London. I’ve built full-stack applications across web, mobile, blockchain and embedded platforms. My client-side work includes React, Electron, Roku’s Scenegraph, and native iOS development with Swift and SwiftUI, always with a strong focus on UX and design-first thinking. On the service-side, I’ve worked with traditional service hosting, containers, and serverless, including (but not limited to) AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, Workers, CloudFormation, SAM CLI, nodejs, bunjs, MySQL, Postgres, NoSQL, grpc, Redis, Docker, nginx, and a few legacy tools best left unnamed (yes, including CodeIgniter and ftp).

I’ve also developed developer tools like CLIs and SDKs, primarily JavaScript land, and have written code in systems languages such as Rust and Zig.

In the AI space, I’ve integrated models via the OpenAI SDK, leveraged prompts, LLMs, and explored LangChain/LangGraph.

I care about clean code, great UX, developer experience, documentation (yes), rapid iteration and automating workflows with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Bash scripts, etc).

  18. It's hard to believe, but some people enjoy. On the other hand, some popular content on TikTok is probably worse than AI generated content and that's another problem...
  19. True, rooms in London for GBP 1.3k, sharing a house with other 3 or 4 strangers!
  20. Another millennial here, the situation in Lisbon/Portugal during the period was very bad. But today in London, most opportunities I’m finding are in AI startups, some lead by very young people. Overall the job market is terrible at the moment for everyone.
