  1. It's interesting because like the article says legal teams may have to get smarter about recreating all the context when evidence like this is used. Even if the emojis rendered the reference implementation of Unicode and what vendors actually represent can vary quite a bit by platform or OS version.
  2. It's amazing to get tested and thinking you're heavy dosing and when tests come back it turns out you're barely in the green (low).
  3. Sure, all probabilities go to 1 over a large enough time span. I don't think there's anything useful you can do with that information. Being early is the same as being wrong.
  4. I believe it depends on the state.
  5. > Layoffs of some staff in Stillwater, Oklahoma followed in 2008.

How did Creative end up with offices there? Was there some kind of research going on at Oklahoma State University?

  6. You'd think trains would use a rolling release
  7. What are you using to sync with TickTick?
  8. I loved coming home from curfew in HS and firing up the server browser to find a 24+ person as_oilrig. Such a fun time
  9. Reminds me of the modified EZ-bake I had 30+ years ago [1]. I tried putting hooks in those to mixed success. One side was always flat though.

  10. The Starlink gateway out is a good solution, but I sure wouldn't share it with friends/family over the ISP networks if at all possible.
  11. I’ve used Django since 0.96 and keep coming back to it any time I need a web site that works. I’ve dabbled in other stuff but this one just clicks for me.

    Here’s to another 20!

  12. And how many stations did that yield?
  13. Direct To Consumer. Selling directly to their customers on Nike.com disintermediating Foot Locker or another distributor/retailer network.
  14. Fascinating article. Seeing the "uni" and wondering if that was in fact the beginning of what we know as uni-ball was neat.

And since the authors' shop is local to me I'm going to have to go see what they've got!

  15. The simple explanation is most of these are Excel VLOOKUPs gone wrong.
  16. I always did Alt-Space, M to select Move. Of course, this was easier to know before they hid the underline cues by default so you'd know what hotkeys were what :)
  17. I don't think of it as a hack any more than Sirius or XM making a "control plane" signal by just interleaving the what's on or channel map in with the music signal.
  18. Does it do this on iOS? I just cancelled RT because it crashed on my work computer all the time but if the phone app weren’t useless that might be different.
  19. I think these are cool and seeing the NetBoot + CoW setup for gaming is fun.

    Thanks for sharing!

  20. Didn’t the Department of Defense try to mandate Ada in the 1980s? That went nowhere.
  21. Is it just paired with his phone that he has access to on the weekends? Asking because I've thought about this before (younger kids) but I don't think the AW operates standalone and I didn't want to pair it with my phone.
  22. Did you get BAH? In high CoL areas like DC metro the housing allowance is like an extra 33k, tax free.
  23. I agree 100% as a fellow engineer.
  24. Precisely
  25. > Unsurprisingly, however, the court found that in 2018, police could have relied on such a warrant in “good faith,” because geofence technology was novel, and police reached out to other agencies with more experience for guidance. This means that the evidence they obtained will not be suppressed in this case.

That the guy's case gets a right affirmed yet in his individual case it won't make a difference has to be a pretty bitter pill to swallow.

  26. It’s essentially a long-form article of the Good Eats episode on punch
  27. R-12 is banned for manufacture by international treaty (which carries the force of law): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dichlorodifluoromethane
  28. It started in October 2022 (a month before midterms), if anything a skeptic would say that's more confirmation timing is suspect.
