  1. If we have nothing to hide, then I want every politician to have every bit of communication publicly available and searchable.

We are stopping corruption here, so only corrupt people could oppose such decision and they should be immediately investigated.

  2. That's weird, I have just got You tube to throw me 502 but now is working again
  3. Self reliance is very important as we can see with USA temporarily not updating Ukrainian F16's radars and jammers and degrading them in the process. Then it is better to have a weapon with worse performance than the best thing on the market but not being subjected to whims of same random leader on the other side of the world who things that your struggle for independence is inconvenient for his business.

Sooner or later people will figure out that it is working exactly the same with nuclear weapons and then non-proliferation treaty will be null and void.

  4. We are just one step from banning HTTPS in UK, aren't we?
  5. I have moved to quiet notifications policy on everything and turned Slack to yet another email. It is much easier to work and concentrate on task. However some colleagues are unhappy to get response in 10 minutes ~ 1 hour.
  6. Quick in'n'out we are home before Christmas

2031: After 4 year struggle Maracay has finally fallen, An F35 has been shot down by unknown energy weapon, probably provided by China.

  7. That's why we are putting those bird stickers on any transparent surface outside, like noise cancelling walls around roads or bus stations.
  8. I still remember when my previous employer has lost domain for like 3 months. Boss and his business partner have setup company and I have joined later. Business partner left.

    - I was trying to figure out who have access to domain X? It is not on AWS and by whois it is under some random registrar in Europe. I got just shrug from boss. Everything works so why bother?

    - After 3 years of scratching my head and try to repeatedly get it to attention we finally lost the domain (card probably expired), everyone is panicking, because emails has stopped working, so email based 2FA are not working either which has cascading impact on all services. And I am just raging in my office because I was trying to prevent this situation for 3 years to no avail.

    - The European registrar did not cooperate at all. We have offered them good chunk of money, no response (weird?), eventually domain got moved around and reregistered by various bots and domain companies and I was able to get it again via domain backorder.

I have left shortly after because this was just ridiculous lack of care with good amount of reactive behavior as a cherry on the top. My take away from this is that you can't change the culture. If top is bunch of sloppy clowns, whole company is going to be the same.

  9. >when the Russians attack NATO across multiple fronts, and the EU is forced to place rifles in the hands of all these EU kids sending them to the front lines

Let me know when Russians will be able to establish air superiority over Ukraine. Attacking NATO without any plausible way to build air dominance will not end well for Russia. Furthermore attacking NATO will open Russia to attack from Ukraine, which will want its territory back.

  10. It is logical development. During our history we went from tribes, to villages, to city states, all the way to national states. Merging several smaller states into one block to counter influence of other large blocks follows all the past trends and it is inevitable to happen.

Only thing which stands in the way is jingoistic nationalism, luckily thanks to internet and social networks kids does not really develop sense of nationalism to their country as they can tell no difference between somebody from Albania, France or Niger. And they can see that all the people have more less the same problems and more less the same desires and only thing which separates them is language and few obscure traditions of their ancestors.

This also runs contrary to dismantling EU - European states weren't merged from outside by some Godlike power, but from inside by European themselves. It was a logical thing to do, to increase trade and to make Europe more competitive. If you would erase EU today with a magic rubber, something like EU would exist again within 30 years.

  11. Dark mode is a placebo. If your eyes hurt from the screen, then increase ambient light in the room so the amount of light around you is balanced and your irises will stay in same settings - main source of your pain.

If light would be a big problem, you would be going blind during sunny summer day.

  12. If it won't then it is effectively short circuiting whole capitalist society as we know it

If people are not working, then they have no income - Less taxes for state

If they have no income, they can't buy stuff or services - Less taxes for state

If companies can't sell stuff and services, they are going bankrupt - Less taxes for state

If state has no income from taxes, state is going bankrupt.

Consumers, Companies and Governments all will go bust if state are not going to massively and aggressively tax AI and automation. Then pay UBI to consumers so we can at least pretend that capitalism is still a thing.

  13. I would guess that it is because of stale line up. There is Model 3, Model Y (which is Model 3 Wagon if that would be a European car) and now they come with a light facelift of Model Y. Model S and X are abandoned.

Compare it to European and Chinese brands, which are offering much wider range of cars and in case of European brands you don't need to travel to a different country to get your car fixed if it breaks.

  14. Former poacher is best wild-life guard, because he knows all the tricks.
  15. .NET can hot reload during debugging session. Even that I never get used on this feature and just restarting debugging from scartch.
  16. Copilot usage must be abhorrent when you are pushing it into TVs and making it non-removable application.
  17. If we would have a way how to tell that request for data is coming from investigation and this request should be signed by a judge. Like a search warrant against an affidavit and tell cops to get lost until they will produce it?
  18. It is also stupidly transparent attempt, which will create rally around the flag effect for EU - Sure EU has issues, but when you have two powers openly claiming that they are out to get you, you are not going to sleep, you will start barricading your house.

Countries are not really intending to leave the EU, not even Hungary, because they know very well that big boys outside will turn them into their toy.

  19. Let's be real. A staggering amount of drivers are incapable to switch on Automatic Cruise Control or trigger automatic parking. They know how to start the car, how to switch lights and wipers on/off and that's about it.

Paying subscription for something what they are never going to use is going to be a hard sell.
