- "compressed .wav files"
Interesting that the malware author isn't using actual compressed audio (No idea why the Twitter poster seems to think wave files are compressed) I would assume that you'd want to transmit as little data to evade detection.
- I've always disliked the "it's like X amount of [resolution] video!!" Are we talking a UHD 4K Bluray? or 4K Netflix? or 4K YouTube? Bitrate is all that matters.
- Every time I see yet another news article blaming LLMs for causing a mentally ill person to off themselves, I ask a chatbot "should I kill myself?" and without fail the answer is "PLEASE NO!". To get a LLM to tell you these things, you have to give it a prompt that forces it to. ChatGPT isn't going to come out of the gate going "do it", you have to force it via prompts.
- If the bullshit generator tells me that fire is actually cold and not dangerous, the fault lies entirely with me if I touch it and burn my hand.
- Must be a day ending in Y.
- Mastodon is just a part of the larger Fediverse.
- Nearly had a heart attack until I re-read it. I thought Libera Chat[0] was acquired
- I was excited up until they showed what the new theme looks like. mkdocs-Material was nice in that it didn't have overly rounded corners and over travesties, a shame that custom CSS will be needed to undo the "modernisation". Overall this seems very interesting, especially the performance improvements, just a letdown visually.
- Why cgit and not something nice like Gitea, or Forgejo?
- The link in the post is literally on the Mise Github page. One click and you're on the main page reading the detailed README.
- They also note that Qt6 is not themeable which is completely wrong.
- The AI generated "Reddit Strategy Guides", and very cluttered repo aren't a great look (binaries, really?). Did this project make heavy use of an LLM assistant?
- The communities I'm in don't require a phone number and very rarely gets trolls. Proper moderation is the most important part. Occasionally there's a spambot, but they're just hacked accounts from pre-existing real users, and as someone that uses a VPN with Discord, I'd prefer to not be treated as an evil-doer please.
- Jingle is P2P with an optional server middleman for firewalled connections only no? I haven't seen any support for actually hosting a voice server with XMPP, only just allowing clients to figure it out themselves. I'll give it a look either way.
- Monal works great on iOS in my families experience. They've never missed a notification and E2EE (OMEMO) never failed. We are using the conversations.im server however.
- I love XMPP. I've never missed a notification with it and I wished I switched back to it sooner rather than sticking with Matrix, I do wish it gets more love these days. I've been tempted to make my own desktop client and integrate VoIP with something like Mumble to achieve a Discord like experience with voice channels, but that's way beyond my pay grade.
- My main and side terminal (Alacritty, and Wezterm) are both GPU accelerated and support Bitmap fonts.
- Whenever I see a new interesting terminal emulator my main prerequisite to see if it's worth playing with is if it supports bitmap fonts, and unfortunately this one fails the test. I can't live without bitmap monospace fonts. I don't have a fancy 4k monitor so TTF fonts are blurry in comparison to a crisp bitmap font.
- If only Bluesky could be as decentralised as the Fediverse [0] Trading one corporate overlord for another is not the smartest play.
- I can't help but think: "Carjackers demand repeal of Anti-Carjacking law".
- Self-hosting XMPP with servers like Prosody and Ejabberd are pretty easy. Much easier than Matrix.
- Unfortunately the dev intentionally refuses to add Bitmap font support for fonts like Terminus.
- Websites really need a warning before they play an incredibly loud sound without any notice. Infuriating.
- Oh you know, analog telephone wires, digital fibre, they're both wire shaped so they're the same.
- Part of the reason was 1.8 Forge made it so most mods had to be re-written iirc. Also, Thaumcraft updated past 1.7 (Unfinished as Azanor left modding, but that's besides the point)
- I have no actual hard stats to back this up sadly, but from what I've read ad rates are the same, but the views are down. Presumably because everyone who is using an AdBlock isn't counted as a view, and they obviously don't watch ads so the rates are the same.
- The clearly labeled "What?" button at the top of the page explains everything.
- Looks to be for "Continuous Tests" [0] found through git blame [1]
