  1. I want to say, that your comment has been the most real, aligned thing I've read in this post's comments. The articulation of what I've also seen and felt is perfect. Whoever else passes by, THIS, is the truth. What dnw has written is the honest-to-god state of things and that it does not rob you of the passion of creating.
  2. Sounds like you'd use an LLM exactly for that.

    We don't need you.

  3. Kind of feel that's already the case today... 4GB I find is still plenty for even business workloads.
  4. My theory that you'll need a dedicated machine to access the internet is more true by the day.
  5. Oh, I'll have to correct this! I've only seen eForth mentioned with Dr Ting's name all over. Thank you.

The metacompilation part is really nice. Did the self-modification section of the essay not convey that to you? Because that's what it was :s I'll have to revise it.

I really want this essay to be definitive, so even after 4 revisions there is still some way to go. All the comments have been extremely helpful to further reach that goal :)

  6. (typing from phone) i simply had not known. it is a great example of a short path to a c dialect then! merci pour votre travaille au dusk et collapse! i will add a paragraph about it to the essay. this took me many days to write and many revisions and still i see it isnt perfect!

note the point of that section was really that anyone using gcc or clang should ack. the real cost when using them.

  7. The problem with this text is it's a written anecdote. Could all be fake.
  8. This doesn't annoy me but the movement of using this image feels extremely confusing and uneventful. Like wearing a ribbon, but with some weird attachment to an enterprise?
  9. They do. The legal tape is more like how to use legal tape to protect it :)
  10. I'm not sure who you asked, or maybe you asked at the beginning of 2024 but the stance on no-local hosting not a hard one
  11. Zoo has said it's open to local hosting of the kernel for years. I believe it's a matter of time because it's mostly about legal tape.

ucad is based on Manifold, so unfortunately, not really comparable, since it's all meshes vs brep, like OpenSCAD.

Note KCL could be completely augmented with another kernel. There are people who've already tried :)

  12. This article is fricking OVERKILL to say "use a framebuffer".
  13. I use Dvorak, so I'm asking to maybe make the transition easier LOL.
  14. I want to pull the trigger on this so badly. I've had my eyes on it for years. It seems the best way to increase typing speed is to reduce finger movement via physical modifications to a keyboard.

Does charachorder support Dvorak-like layout mentally? Not a 1-1 but something similar? Like vowels on left hand?

  15. Uh no? You have to pull in the change and recompile
  16. ...but it does mean there is a corporate controlled program that can back stab you at any moment!
  17. I've read them all. While they are fun to read as their commentary come from a place of logic, there is a lot of emotion baked in and little room for being open minded about potential alternatives that could find their ways to reality. Dijkstra was very smart but you can tell thinking is a little closed, which is not objectively bad, but it happens a little too much for my taste.
  18. Have we solved anything? /s
