  1. What about wikipedia?
  2. Supposedly no but they will soon be able to.
  3. There were better solutions to those problems than the CSS debacle.
  4. The killer argument at the time (and even now most likely) is that screen readers could not distinguish whether the table was used for layout or for data and therefore sight-impaired users would have trouble.

The argument doesn't make sense because it is not too hard for a screenreader to understand whether a table is used for layout and even if it was hard the problem would more easily be solved by just adding an attribute to the table to indicate that it is used for layout.

  5. JRPGs are like movies that you can interact with. If you don't enjoy the cutscenes then it will be a drag.

I did play FFVII when it came out and I was extremely impressed and couldn't get enough of it. But I could never get into other JRPGs later.

  6. Parenthood being the most intense happiness possible is not my subjective experience. It is probably the most obvious fact in the world, literally if it wasn't true human societies would be radically different.
  7. Not really; midlife crisis is a misnomer because it can start at 50-60 years old.
  8. Maybe they are unhappy but on the flip side, most people with children will tell you that if you haven't been a parent you don't know what happiness is. The happiness of being a parent is just unimaginable, cannot compare with anything else.
  9. So midlife crisis has not hit yet.
  10. He said that can feel either lesser or above so there's nothing arrogant about that.
  11. Pop music also existed back then you know.
  12. It's 3 years away.
  13. I have a bad ankle/foot that is causing me trouble when I run so I switched to cycling. I never had knee problems when running but I now get knee pain from cycling...
  14. > For example, in the US the plumber pays for health care. In Europe he mostly does not.

More like in the US he pays for private health insurance (and/or he is covered by Medicare/Medicaid). In Europe he pays for public health system, something like 5% of his earnings, and he may choose to buy private health insurance on top of that (as many do) because the public health system is in shambles.

  15. Insects do not have the same level of sentience as birds and mammals.

However, do keep in mind that a large proportion of agricultural output is used to feed animals.

  16. That's factually incorrect. You don't have to kill a plant to get the fruit and/or the seeds it produces.
  17. Ease cannot be used to ethically justify an action. But even so, you ignore that, according to research, people who eat meat have worse health than people who don't.
  18. Well I can crash my bicycle going downhill and neglecting to use the brakes, this doesn't mean it wasn't intelligently designed.

    Design is all about tradeoffs.

  19. How do you know that they make a consistent profit? You take their word for it? Gamblers are notorious liars and are also known to keep very poor record of their bets.
  20. > There is also the fantasy of being able to win money but the reality that if you actually win money in a consistent fashion, you will be either kicked-off or your action will be severely crippled.

This does not apply to all bookmakers. Also, betting exchanges exist where the players bet against each other therefore there is no incentive for the operator to ban winning players.
