    The transparency is cool, but everything got turned into bubbly corners, like someone wanted to live the Lost In Space timeline where everyone is computing with circular video monitors controlled by joysticks.

    Scalia was right in saying that the checks and balances slowing things down is a feature, not a bug. The Framers were right about protections against faction. I’m not sure they understood how badly malicious schemers could deliberately manipulate the system. Things just aren’t getting done, and it is killing people.

    Of course they are. Once every economic variable has been optimized and protected behind a corporation, while banks have adverts showing people high-fiving each other in their Manhattan financial literacy café, and the health insurance system and party in power look for every excuse not to provide health insurance (but do download our mindfulness app), everyone recognizes the cognitive dissonance. Just because you publish Pravda doesn’t mean that people believe in it. You take away the things that give meaning to someone’s life and hope for the future.

    My macOS display system is pushing megapixels and with some good exceptions it feels like many apps have not much more visible information or options than an 80x25 VGA display. This is not to trash VGA displays which were often very well-designed. Some web pages now only show a single paragraph at a time on screen because of cumulative pop-ups, borders, and rounded corners.

    I don’t want an Open Genera machine in a portable case with a battery, though. I want Apple’s software to match the quality of their hardware.

    It would be fantastic if Apple were to give Woz and Ive a mea culpa, bring them in again, and teach the next generations of engineers and designers.

    I mean for what Apple spent to license the third-party AI patchover.
