- There are a couple out there but the standards have taken a nose dive.
- You should subscribe to more conference youtube channels. Definitely a lot less beginner content.
- Depends on the situation. I use a mix of sticky notes and a notebook. If I am in a meeting then I just open notepad++.
- You can take a look at these
- A lot of meetings suck to be frank but if it is important then your best bet would be to prepare ahead of the meeting in terms of some of the questions you want to ask. Also sharing your views might be a good option as well. You can also ask your colleagues if they feel the same way and potentially change the meeting ritual.
- Some things to think about
- Build tools for legal aid
- Helping a volunteer organization with their website

- You can also share posts on social media about it to warn others of it
- Not sure how notion is beating Google and MSFT.
- I would suggest maybe trying a different area of software development that is not primarily build crud apps.
You could also try different areas technical writing, teaching etc
- - Try open source projects
- join a programming meetup group in your area
- Cobol, brainf*ck, Ada come to mind
- You can try datatau
- Definitely a quagmire but there are some things you can do. Some helpful tips
Not every code is pretty so it should make for an interesting learning curve.
Walk through every line of code and create your own documentation using something like this - https://www.writethedocs.org/guide/writing/beginners-guide-t...
Break down the problem into sub-problems. YOU CAN use user stories if possible to understand the business logic.
Talk to your manager and set expectations. It seems they have given you a task that might be more than your currently knowledge set. It could a learning opportunity or a roaring disaster. Either way make sure you tell them what you can do right now and what may take you longer to do.
- As you alluded to there are a lot of problems already so it is a matter of picking 1 and finding one person to solve it.
If you are looking for areas to disrupt here are a few
- end of life planning/funerals
- waste water management
- debt management: find optimal way to pay off debt
- supply chain visibility
- checking the quality of supplements
- building a better finance/economics forecasting model/tool
- - Truth networks/channels
- Tactical forecasting/Super forecasting
- Highly improved warehouse robots
- First blockbuster VR Game
- More personalized ads in the real world
