Haskell, Rust, Lisp(s)... and JavaScript.
- Neat!
- This looks really neat, I played with it a bit and the DSL is well thought out.
One thing I can't figure though: how do we set default values for internal Struct?
Said default values are mentionned in the documentation (here: <https://slint.dev/releases/1.0.2/docs/slint/src/reference/ty...>).
// ok even if a is missing, it will just have the default value - Do you know what this median annual household income of $71k means outside of the USA? Inequality is a global problem, unfortunately. Cheapest Tesla being generally affordable in one country doesn't mean it's not fairly expensive.
Side notes: - the World Inequality Database is full of interesting data (https://wid.world/) - I'm not sure the median income is always relevant (I mean, if half of a given population couldn't affort to eat correctly, I wouldn't say food is "generally affordable") - fortunately, not everybody needs a Tesla, let alone a car
- What a load of utter bullshit.
"infinitely knowledgeable"? Bollocks. Big deep learning models work fine, and if you forget the part where big firms hoard loads of data without any kind of consent it's pretty cool tech. But that's not knowledge, and it has already been explained many times.
But my beef is more with the author's view of inequality.
So, bourgeoisie isn't stealing from the proletariat? How to describe a society when one percent gets more than half of all new wealth every year? [0]
Tesla are now ‘affordable’ cars? Hell, the cheapest model is twice my yearly income.
Can't say I'm struggling to understand how some people can think this way though. Can't say I'm happy about it either.
- Well I had never heard of Woolf before the age of 25, so there's that.
- Being French, I studied Montaigne in middle school (or high school, can't remember) – I did not expect to bump into him here. Quelle bonne surprise !
- Or the speakers themselves, eventually
- It's not a "sustainability tax", it's "acknowledging people are not slaves nor are resources infinite"
- Replying to the last sentence: the essay is also full of repetitions. I didn't make anything of it the first time I read it, but now the AI-generated hypothesis is on the table it seems quite likely.
- I reckon this analysis would benefit from absolute figures. A drop in market share doesn't necessarily mean less users if said market is experiencing a massive growth.
- The last post on PeerTube was apparently deemed interesting, so I thought a Framasoft AMA would be welcome.

- You're right, and Framasoft (the French non-profit behind the project) knows it. If you can help, or know people who can, I think they'd be glad to hear from you!
- Yup, it's that amazing.
That's why I think said institutions should donate to the project ;)
- PeerTube is a free, decentralised and federated video platform, and a part of the fediverse, meaning you can interact with it via Mastodon and other tools, thanks to the ActivityPub protocol.
There is only one paid developer, working for the French non-profit Framasoft – and I think it's important to share this in non French-speaking spaces.
If you want to help them "Collectivise / Convivialise the internet": https://soutenir.framasoft.org/en/

- Nice. Any plans to make translations? I think it could be useful to a lot of people.
As a person I'm increasingly worried about the consequences of people using it, and of what happens when the bubble bursts.
