  1. Per RFCs, "example.com" (the bare domain name) must be a DNS A/AAAA record and cannot be a CNAME, which could limit your ability to use some anti-ddos/geo-loadbalancing solutions. Subdomain names (app.example.com) can be CNAME records.
  2. This forbes article is lacking in details; here's the OG threat analysis report: https://blog.xlab.qianxin.com/gayfemboy-en/
  3. I can also recommend: If you have any doubts whatsoever about the technical abilities of your descendants/family/executor, print the document and make sure multiple people know where the printed copy lives.
  4. in the end we all do what we must.
  5. aww, now how will we scavenge free lithium batteries for our hacking projects?
  6. Wait, my mistake; the wi-fi toggle got added in the 18.1 beta track.
  7. You CAN add a Wi-fi widget. And while there's not a native airdrop widget, you can add a Shortcut widget that controls airdrop.

    (edit: spelling of Wi-fi)

  8. 3. Two pinned tabs (slack and mastodon) and this thread.
  9. Disagree. Both articles talk about Telegram but they are otherwise completely different.
  10. Thank you for the clarification!
  11. Land line is the safest bet. In the US at least, there's also a guarantee that there will always be a dialtone on a paid line even if you have a power outage in your home (assuming of course that you have an actual traditional un-powered phone plugged into the line).
  12. dupe of https://www.hackerneue.com/item?id=41550822 like, word-for-word without the links in the original.
  13. (2017)

Still valid though, and a good read.

  14. You could set up an "on app launch" automation shortcut for Maps to alter the Color Filter setting, but I'm not sure how you'd automate switching it back after closing/leaving Maps. I don't use the automations, but instead have a shortcuts widget with "toggle greyscreen" (among others) which is sufficient for me most of the time.
  15. Appears to be this post from around March/April 2023: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditEng/comments/11xx5o0/you_brok...
  16. Extending managed phishing campaigns to customers sounds like a very good way to erode the trust of those customers in your bank.
  17. I would absolutely wear your hypothetical Cast Iron shirt, just as an aside. There's always someone who's interested in niche topics.
  18. If the way companies like Google and Amazon act are considered, doing a chargeback through your bank is likely to get the subscription immediately canceled (and the accompanying account banned as well).
  19. Did anyone else initially get a link that auto-upvoted this post?
  20. This isn't actually correct. If you collect or process process the data of European citizens, no matter where in the world you are, then you're affected by GDPR.
  21. It's only a few pixels (vertically) between the title of the link and the "hide" button.
  22. I plan on using my current handset (iPhone SE 2022) until it stops receiving security updates. I very much hope that when the time comes Apple still offers a handset in the same form factor.
  23. tl;dr (and two pages down): Lithuania.
  24. Speaking from personal experience, don't do this on a machine you'll ever access remotely, because then you're stuck waiting for the biometric check to time out before you can authenticate via another method.
  25. I'm currently working on getting Kali Linux installed and working on my Pi400 with an adafruit screen attached to the GPIO port. It's a convenient size for hand-carrying, and with the screen disconnected it could pass (to the casual observer) as a simple compact keyboard. Especially when paired with the pi400kb "driver" [1]

That it'll run off of a USB battery pack for quite some time is an added bonus. It's obviously not as powerful as a dedicated laptop but as a "cyberdeck" or an incognito penetration test device, I think it'll find a place of regular usage in my life.

  26. That sounds fabulous and is a definite stark contrast from "the best local ramen" here in the Austin,TX area. It's apparently vogue here to have music so loud you can't hear your dining companion unless they shout.
  27. KyPass has been excellent for me for the last several years.
